Thank you for this interesting and inspiring lesson ! I do like the key of F Minor very much too and have composed my first instrumental song in Fm. I’ve recorded myself on the piano and created the song in Logic Pro : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vwKSs2z5XyQ.htmlsi=vyQUP4DhRaBj2Yca
@@dermwestcott6130 thank you, it’s a pleasure you’ve enjoyed my song ! It has been uploaded to RU-vid by an online music distributor, I’ve tried to turn on the reactions but it didn’t work.
I love this School, because here I can learn "why this note is important" "why this note is beautiful" "how important this note is in this song". And these teachers never say "just do what I say!"
You have helped me understand a composition I am learning, "Laurence of Arabia", arranged by Philip Keveren. Thank you for these explanations and examples!
Very timely as my teacher has just given me the task of composing a little song! I had the chord progression but was at a bit of a loss of where to go from there! Thank you!
Tom didn’t « show » how to be creative ! As far as I am concerned, he has taught me what I have searched for years in a matter of a moment . Thanh you !
You keep spreading the joy Tom. Not just light bulbs but a swath of neuron fireworks as things slot into place. I love the build up from the basic and immediately doable finishing with a lovely indication of what is possible. Fabulous.😀🙏🎶
This is incredible and many many thanks! My key is Eb and progression is G, Bb, C, Eb in some kind of order. My teacher did an improv for me to analyze and WRITE out. I videoed just to get the sound. Blue Note app very helpful in figuring the pitches. Now trying to add arpeggios and stuff. For a gal that got so far without ever writing anything down, argh!! I think it should be a part of every beginner's lessons!
That was incredible. Please do more lessons like this.I think I like to end on f minor, but that can change depending on my mood or what I'm going for. Awesome video 😎💛💛🤟

Tom, It looks like you've almost scrolled through the entire PDF in this video. Will the course include something else or just this PDF + backing tracks?
@eugeneadams7433 good question. It's this PDF plus another 2 of them. Groove warms up, and more in depth examples. The groove dictionary PDF has also since been upgraded with another 10 grooves added. We regularly add other grooves to the dictionary, and updates comes free with the course. Hope that helps.
I watched your Elton John seminar last night and thought it both informative and entertaining, your instruction is very open and easy to understand and questions are readily answered. I have already enrolled on the groove sessions and find them great fun practising all the rhythms and applying them to different compositions…reggae Beethoven anyone? That in my opinion is what music is all about, playing it your way to your taste,to the best of your current ability, the art of improvisation . I’m sure we all get short of time and need to summon the effort but I go through one of your videos and I just feel like playing, your tutorials are inspirational. Thank you Tom.
Sorry no. The way you are talking, it's exactly like you've forgotten that you're not doing a paid lesson, so you don't have a captive person who is forced to hear you chatter away as you please.
I noticed that the other comments on this video don't seem to support your viewpoint. It looks like this may be more of a personal interpretation rather than a factual one. It’s easy to get caught up in discussions about economics to try and justify an assumption, but I want to emphasize that I was giving a class generously to our global community just like I'd give any other class. Perhaps today’s not your best day, and that’s okay!
Hey Tom, if you are still monitoring the comments on this video, I have a question. I love these lead sheets that you put up on screen (7:01). The ones that show the chords within a bar, the repeats and sections of the song. What software do you use to make these? Thanks!
You put me in touch with God Tom mate. Sometimes i can't believe i've been lucky enough to get hooked on the piano. I never thought i'd ever study it. I'm totally addicted. I've had to pause the video half way through, i'm as high as a kite on this lesson. I had a quick look at 2 or 3 comments and saw a few talking about the end of the video. Really looking forward to playing the other half in a minute. I love my personal relationship with God. I love music. and i love meditation. This is the first time i've ever consciously realised all 3 things and completely. I've never had this experience before in my life. I just wanted to tell you that brother.
Thanks so much for simplifying what traditionally is very confusing about playing piano. Got a quote for you. Technique is the mind telling the body what it should sound like, and when muscle memory is trained to the point of achieving that sound, then you will have good technique
