It's not code. Romex/Lumex is designed for in-wall... it could have been done with bx, or shielded cable though. Having an outlet inaccessible behind a built-in is also not up to code. Outlets must be accessible. Same reason you don't put an outlet behind a dishwasher... as it's screwed into the cabinet (usually). Having an outlet in your built-in is okay, but the way they did it was NOT. Typically I'd run BX into a box designed to be exposed... or better yet run it straight from behind so you don't show any wires inside the unit.

I like these words " Do it yourself , no need to pay someone to do it for you " I a a Jack of all trade lol , and I always say to my son and friends , that every single thing you don`t pay for is a sum of money that you win.And on long terms it makes a HUGE sum of money . Edited to say that actually I am making a small hydroponic plant . At the beginning it was just for fun and have some Laitues in my plate , but neighbours came to buy some and I am constantly having more demands , so this is bringing some extra money . I want to be self sufficient for my everyday cookings .😃
