Hi there! We're Josie and Marcus and we just bought our dream home our in the countryside in the south of Sweden after living in London, UK for 6 years. In the coming years we will be renovating most of our buildings and doing fun projects on our new property. Thanks for following along!
Around how much money did the entire house cost, if you dont mind saying? Asking because I also plan to move to Sweden to puchases a house under $100000
Ours was around 3,6 million SEK but that is mainly because of the location, we’re in the south and close to “bigger” cities and airports. Further north you can definitely find good houses for that money.
Not really, we’re gonna do most of the work ourselves and the house was built in 1994 so the structure is really solid so only cosmetic fixes on the house itself really :) the cabin/shed needs a bit more love but that is a much smaller project at least :)
The shed would make a great guest house or a summer kitchen ☀️ Very nice home and thanks for showing me around! ❤love all your outdoor space. Much happiness from Minnesota USA
@@OurHomespunHouse wow thanks that's super cheap when converted to British pounds :-) sweden homes are so much cheaper than Uk and they're spacious i love it
Congrats! You have a nice house in a very beautiful area. May I ask what the price for the property was and when you bought it? I'm guessing around 1 500 000 SEK... 🤔
@@OurHomespunHouse Ah ok, now I get it! Because of the high price, there must have been a lot of land included! That's usually the reason the price is that high for a house in the country side in Swe. How many ha is the land?
We have 3 ha of land. Proximity to cities and communities also play a huge role. We’re in the middle of the woods but we’re only 5 minutes from the store 😬🥰
Дякую за відео! Все - прекрасно! Житло, природа, песики. Я, мабудь, тут би написав роман.... так все чудово. А можливо і поселив би ще якогось письменника!😍
Yes this is Sweden :) I have lived abroad for many years and have a lot of friends across the world so I prefer to share in English so people can follow along with what we do :)
You get an automatic thumbs up for the Shelties. The black and white one looks very close to my old smithy pal Toby. He was such a great pup. Thanks for sharing your property with us.
Oh. My. Goodness!! Josie you are so brave and badass. The fireplace looks incredible! I would be way too scared to dive into all that but you are inspiring me to take on bigger projects around my house too ❤️
We have been watching a lot of people on RU-vid buying a house in Sweden and doing it up and then it showed us yours. You have the prettiest house I have seen there so far. Love that the garage is under the house. What area are you in? Good luck with all the work you have there.
I would first dig up that garden area and only use screened soil ,to plant food in ,,Nice outside space, love it , nice to see what changes you decide, enjoy , better than the UK any day ,BLESS YOU BOTH , ,and thanks for showing us ,
"Our dream home" - how can we change it? What people really mean is that the location is great. I've seen so many of theses lately and they rebuild or renovate so It's unrecognisable. It'll be interesting to see what you'll do.
True, in our case it’s our dream home because it checks so many boxes of what we wanted in a home, multiple buildings, woods, land for planting things, the house itself isn’t my dream house but all the other weigh so much more, because I can work on the house, and honestly that’s part of the dream too 🥰 plus this house is from 1994 so it doesn’t have any historical details to preserve really
I'm glad about that. No historical features to rip away. So many non-swedes moving here and just destroy the houses because it doesn't look like "home". This is another country with different rules and regulations. A guy who got a house up north changed all the windows without checking rules first and had to put the right windows back.
Beautiful. I am well jealous. How to search for these sort of properties? Any websites. We are thinking of escaping from the UK and that place looks like a paradise.
We used the Swedish site hemnet.se to find this place, but we had very specific search criteria as we knew we wanted some really secluded with some land. I think we were really lucky to find this so quickly. Although if you go further north in Sweden I think it’s possible to find really good properties similar to this one for cheaper, it is very location dependent I’d say. We loved living in the UK but it was time for us to leave for the woods and we haven’t regretted it for ones second 🥰
