You saved me having to Post this same issue. Thank you. I had a blowout on i-75 Florida yesterday and had to sit beating on a lug wrench to get it onto the lugs of course ended up having to grab a chisel to get it off. Even at the tire shop they have to physically beat the sockets on. This should be a safety recall because if you don't have a hammer and you're not physically able you're never going to be able to change the tire. I suggest changing them they don't have roadside service everywhere
Buy the solid replacements. I think the idea was to pull the covers off to remove them but there is not a good way to know until they start falling apart.
Okay I’m sorry. But this is the worst design of fucking lugnuts there has and still is and forever and always will be the worst fucking lugnut design in the whole damn world. Making a damn tire rotation into a 3 hour ordeal because you gotta perform like a damn 10 minute surgical operation on each damn lugnut 💀
The idea that I could find that I could discover that flipping the switch to the off position does not work, scares the crap out of me! I have a du-8 and a ec-8. I actually think that the simplicity of the du-8 paper attachment scheme is superior to ez-8 and ec-8, as it is genius simplicity and fewer failure points. The du-8 also has a 4 inch cord off the handle, and in an emergency I could easily unplug my third party 10 gauge cord from the machine. On the ec-8 I would need to flip the machine backwards and calmy frantically pull the cord of the handle from the base. I would never be able to make it 35 feet to the wall in the next room over to unplug it. Buying rolls of paper is far cheaper than precut sheets. It is not hard or doesn't take long, once you have a good template and know the dimensions.
Also, in the current apartment we spent 6 hours pulling nails and staples, yet still missed many. Hitting a nail or staple, having the sheet rip off the drum is not uncommon. If the sander can't handle no paper, they should go back to the simpler recessed, 3 screw bar design of the du-8. The drum and fan bearings need to be easier to service. A $400 drum spindle extractor is a problem.
Yes, expensive drums that can be easily damaged. Improper drum alignment can cause uneven wear on the ez-8 drums as well. I rent these machines and meticulously maintain them. Every customer gets a lesson on proper usage prior to leaving.
