Hey mate I have dug a post hole next to my slab in the back yard and it keeps filling up with water. Water gushes out faster after rains. All plumbings have been checked, repaired and passed the hydrostatic tests. Any ideas if this could be due to negligence of the builder. 4 year old house and haven't seen any signs of heave or hydrostatic pressure so far. ru-vid.com4DFLwCPdjWE ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tqJSeItS_pg.html
I’m going to be doing a small SIP panel extension soon. I was planning on doing the flooring a very similar way. Dig holes for the concrete pads where I’ll insert cement filled waste pipe with a metal thread in the centre of it so lay the wooden posts across the pads similar to the video. This should work great, what do you think?
G'day! I wonder if you could give me some advice. My house has a split level living space with the lower part 2-steps lower (350mm) and I want to raise up that lower part of floor area. It's on concrete slab and it's quite a big area (5 X 3 meters). I searched and viewed a lot of videos and yours is quite informative but obviously it's a different scenario so I can't do what you did here. With that height difference I wonder if I will have to go with bears and joists or some kind of footing... Any advice is much appreciated! 🤘
You clearly haven’t checked the structural engineer specs mate and/or need a new structural engineer!. Any hard-fill in preparation for a slab need to extend 800-1000mm pass the slab 🤦🏻♂️
What kind of caulking did you use between the shimmed areas under the battens? How did you apply it so it wouldn' t run out the sides? Did you just apply caulking at the outer edges of the battens? Is the caulking necesaary between the shims under the battens or couod you just use more shims so it won' t flex and just caulk the shims?
Hi mate, love the videos. Just wondering what sikaflex you are using to adhere the villaboard to the timber? I was thinking of 11FC+, or pro+ however I am worried about the adhesion strength in a damp environment especially on that top piece as the weight of the board and tile will be pulling straight down. Is it worth screwing in the top piece? Also which construction adhesive exactly do you use for filling the edges? The sika website isn't very clear on exactly which products are waterproof. I'm guessing I specifically need an adhesive, not just a waterproofing polyurethane sealant like Crommelin?
Replace them all, wasn’t expecting that. I want to pull mine off to insulate, but was hoping to keep the majority and find someone who still makes them to replace just a few.
Hey great work blokes!! Just about to attack a bathroom reno. Have been told we need to replace the old flooring with the 19mm cement sheets mentioned. So my question.....is it easier/quicker to just replace the old timber in the subfloor to get the right level to the hallway floor ie the 19mm + 10mm for the tiles? OR cut down the old timber with a chalk line and trim off with a circular saw?? 🤷♂️ Cheers
Super informative video mate, we’re looking at building in the next year and I had my doubts about the waffle pod slabs and this cements it(pardon the pun) Thanks for the video !,
thank you for this video.. i am thinking of purchasing land near the ocean.. Would you say if i make the house high up off the ground would be better? and lets say 2-3 kilometer from the ocean help me out?
great tip but i have the makita 18v caulking gun for edpm . qll i do it push the sausage down (because you don't have to press a trigger to load it) then leave the end sticking out then use either medical scissors or us my gasket shears/snips. no mess and you don't have to fuck about taking it back out the gun. theres a tip for you wolverine 👌👍
My problem is chronic cough which i have had for at least 40 years. I've had all the tests but never found the cause. Just lately i had to spend 5 days in hospital. I then noticed i wasn't coughing. This led me to believe my house, which i had suspected before was causing the problem. I looked into off gas and bought some activated charcoal air filter pads and placed them around the house. Directly my head hit the pillow in my bedroom the coughing would start, but after a few days of the charcoal filter being in the room the coughing stopped.
Tu laisse la bouteille de mousse dessus et tu ferme le robinet et le tour et jouer tout simplement … et si la bombe et vide tu la retire uniquement pour en mettre une neuve ..
I spent a lot on a very large rug to be delivered and its a real pain to return and honestly i just think every rug is going to off gas post pandemic has created a very unsafe consumer environment. Unfortunately my husband refused to let me buy used which would have been a good option. . Im on day 2 of off gassing and we need to get our stuff out of storage is there no way to more quickly get this rug cleaned and safe? I have cats and a kitten that im worried about besides every time I touch it my hands start swelling and stinging. Right now I have it draped over things in a covered outdoor area with lots of air flow. When i run my fingers through it it leaves a sticky maybe oily residue. What the heck is that even? 😢😰
Wow you guys are such fast workers ! They don't make em like that anymore. Question : How do you get the fall to the wastes like the shower etc. prior to tiling. Many thanks
Hi, great to hear an Aussie accent for a change. Being Australian myself it's great to hear something that relates to home standards. Question, did you say that, besides nailing villaboard, it is ok to glue it as well. I am doing my own reno so I don't want to go against the regs.
Hi mate. This is the best Villa board video on RU-vid. I found fibre cement screws made by buildex in bunnings. Would you use them? I just don't like the idea of only using nails. Thanks mate 🙏
it really depends on the stud work, the length of the screw, the make up of the screw (Gal, bright etc) and how often you'll be using them remember that cheaper is not always better
G’day Great info, straight to the point and all useful info! In a reno situation, can I backblock and patch damaged villaboard like I would plasterboard? (Timber, screws, fibafuse, basecoat, topcoat, waterproofing, tiles) And is there any risk of tiling over painted villaboard. I’m a little concerned the adhesion is only as good as the old paint. Cheers, Merry Christmas! 🎅 🎄!
Hollow spots on my AC install. Gonna just use the plastic longens. But at the same time run a tick bead of silicon along the bracket to have that little extra support and vibration control at the same time.
Hey, ive noticed James Hardie specify screws every 200mm and no glue in tiled areas with villa board. Surely using stud adheasive with screws is best practice?
geez did they use non galvanized nails on this whole house? Great video tho ! Should you use stainless steel nails when framing even tho it will be covered by zip sheathing? or would you frame with galvanized then use stainless steel on the zip sheathing?
