NOT A MECHANIC!! I am an Aerospace Engineer/Mechanical Engineer for over 19 years. The purpose of this channel is to teach others (i.e. DIY's and Mechanics) how to source mid-high-grade tools for bargain prices. I will also review the big name brands such as Snap-On., Mac, SK, Matco etc., from a non-biased perspective. I strongly believe in providing the viewers with an honest review, and I welcome your comments, opinions, suggestions, etc. Lastly, I have a passion for tool restorations, and I believe old/vintage tools have a history and story. There's nothing like restoring a tool that was designed and manufactured here in the U.S.A with craftsmanship.
This ratchet is designed for 13mm and 9/16 socket max so a 13 mm head bolt usually has bolt size of 8mm and 9/16 bolt has thickness of 3/8 so with any grade metal and with those specifications and if torqued the right way 60ftlbs is more than enough for it's designed application.
The brand is mastercraft with maximum being their "high end" line of tools. Thanks for reviewing ot man, so hard to find any unbiased mastercraft tools review. I like their tools, good price, decent quality, often on special at canadian tire, sometimes up to 70% savings. Perfect for anyone building their collection on a budget.
You have rails that aren't full wasting space. I used toolblok, which is a modular system. I had the same problem until I switched out all my socket rails for toolblok. I had so much more room and alot of empty space for more sockets.
What I like about this video you have a son that is interested in your tools ! That's how I was 40 years ago with my grandfather❤ now I'm 60 years old .I am a diesel mechanic with 20 times more tools than he had. And I love the way you restore your air Port Snap-on tool box
What if not broken but just operate so poorly? Think they warranty it? I have a pair of snap on pliers & they look brand new but they have gotten stiff as all heck. I have followed every tip forum and video online on trying to loosen them up.
Mate, they have flank drive, 10mm on Snap On here in the UK is £41.88 but 10mm Cat is £20 👀 you’re a legend broski 😂 love that I’m ordering a bunch of shit right away
I would get a big roll cart and put all your most used stuff in it. You can roll it to your projects and got to the big boxes when you need the stuff you don’t use as often. I would also get some organizers and throw or store the foam. It’s nice but takes up a lot of room. There’s a lot of good organizers out there that will help clear up space for sockets, pliers, and wrenches.
Go with a REAL ‘BIG’ boy setup, & get yourself a MR. BIG. Throw a stainless top, a Hutch… maybe another top box box on either side, then you have locker options. lol. Talk about tons of storage space,? Could probably add onto it forever. Not to mention, you’re a pro and finding killer deals 💯!
It’s actually embarrassing that this “man” thinks he’s getting a product from the same equipment that makes snap on. Come on children…… Cat pays for the design, not the exact raw materials. Absolute idiots
Someone educate this clown as to where the tools come from. It’s from Taiwan. The materials to make steel are garbage. Ffs man……… research before posting Australian iron doesn’t go to Taiwan
They have the knuckle saver open end. Better than the flank drive plus. They wont slip off, but don't mark up the fastener like the flank drives. Love my knuckle savers, and would love to add the precision torques. 🍻
It was helpful, much appreciated. Their website is still a little wonky. Could make it easier to search chrome vs impact, 6pt vs 12 pt, etc. I’m gonna check it out and see if there’s anything I want. Thanks again.
It's giving me anxiety just looking at all that clutter. I understand being chaotic while in the process or working, but something simple like saving cardboard flats that beverages come in to set parts and fasteners in helps control the clutter and keeps from losing, misplacing, or having things disappear - which saves you from wasting time searching or having to buy something again because you can't find it. Whatever works for you....but i'd try to keep the clutter a little more organized if you're back and forth between two projects.
Lifetime warranty is key for any brand, regardless if it’s domestic or offshore. My point is, why would I buy an offshore brand, if I can buy a USA made brand for equal or lesser cost, plus have the benefits of a warranty…
@@MidwestToolReview Your point is solid. I agree, l pick the USA made tool every time for equal or lesser price. , regardless of the warranty. That being said, im picking up some of these Cat sockets for myself.
The Williams sockets which part number start with letters vs numbers are snap on also like Williams MSB-20HRC 3/8-Inch or WSS-14HRC 1/2-Inch, JHWMSBD12HRC are examples, all on Amazon too.
I saw on a RU-vid short that the hex sockets from cat and snappy are identical in appearance, so its likely they are also the same but i make no guarantee on this.
Capri makes high quality tools for the money. I have a mix of everything, and I have a great deal of snap on. Capri tools is worth the buy especially these torque adapters.
Depending on your dealer it can be a pain to get your online account setup. Mine (part of a multi city dealership) had a gate keeper who kept refusing to approve my account because I didn't have a serial number for a CAT machine. I went to the local parts counter and made my 1st order and they told me who to talk to go over his head to get it approved.
