Welcome!! My name is Shine and I run this channel from my passion to give voice to the unvoiced in which they deserve and need for us to hear. My main focus is on gerbils, but I also make videos on fish and rabbits. I am also an Otocinclus breeder with the first introduced guide on RU-vid to breed them consistently. ♡
I have been binge watching your videos because you make such informative videos and I’m getting ready to acquire 2 boys tomorrow so thank you for teaching me so much so that I can give these boys a great home :)
How can you tell if your gerbil is pregnant? My gerbils have been making a nest at the top of the layers and have been mating. But I don’t know if it coincidence or not.
@@finsandwhiskers I have 2 Gerbils and the person said that they were to males but I think ones a girl and the other is a boy. I’ve checked Google and YT on what to do with the pups if they had any but nothing really helped. I know nesting is normal but the other things are mostly what male and female do. I know it can also be a a dominance thing to. My small on Bagheera is smaller compartment to Gingernut but I presumed it was a runt.
Me and my brother tried to have a look if they had yk but it’s not easy due to there small and not like hamsters. Another thing people suggested to keep the dad away from the mum when she has the pups cause he’ll try to mate again which can lead to 2nd litter but some say keep him cause he helps.
One of my two gerbils are always bitting. Hiting a cage with nose, or cage base, scraching with his nails. When ever hes out on the couch, when he see my skin he bites. He was a little agressive when we got them. Hes not biting only when i give him a sunflower seed.😢 idk how to get him to trust me
i know i’m extra late but better late then never to ask? but if anyone knows where to get that superrrr extra large bendy bridge divider in one of the cages because im looking for new ones and i feel a really big one would be great for my boys x
hi my gerbil got sick. She just lies there with his eyes half open, and when she walks, he twists the back of his body. Would you be able to tell us what to do because there is no veterinarian in my area who would treat rodents. I haven't seen her drink or eat yet, and she lets herself be petted for a long time, even when she ran away in the past. (I have a friendly relationship with her and she trusts me, so she was walking on my hands). She is 2 soon as well.
I have a question so I’m getting two gerbils soon and I have a small cage, not terribly small but a little smaller than the recommended one. I was wondering if I let them out daily like in a play pin or so would they be fine?? (Temporary till I get a new cage or tank)❤
Is it possible that you can wait to get them until you have the right enclosure? If not, and it’s temporary, then I think it’d be fine to have them there-I wouldn't recommend taking them out though because they will be new to you, and intimidated. You should at least wait two days before trying to introduce yourself to them! ♥️
@@finsandwhiskers thank you so much I’m learning new things everyday and I’ve just came across your videos and it’s helping me learn more thank you again. 💗
Thankyou 4 you're channel. I'm a hugh animal lover but this is my 1st time ever have any rodent. As my mum hates R.A.T.S SHE says bc she dont like the word either 😂
I’m getting gerbils in a few days , but I just want to check that when they’re borrowing can you see them through the glass? Because I might think they somehow got out lol
I got my two lil guys from petco, their not the closest friends but they play and enjoy eachothers privacy 😂 so cute, my brown one will lightly push my white one out of his lil hole with his paw
Very fluffly and cute bunny. But yeah, hope we can see the gerbies. Just lost my last one of the group three weeks ago, so I am looking forward to your content. Any pet content really. Bunny is great too!
My friend sais her cousin was getting hamsters but is nlw most likely getting gerbils, that made me curious on what the care expectations are as her cousin is younger and wont do research
I would like to apologize profoundly for having fun. It was very inconsiderate of me, and I know better. I know nothing I say will erase what happened, so I’ll just end this by saying, I absolutely don’t care what you do! ♥️🙏🏼🥺
I have a question about gerbils, so my gerbil has this weird lump on his back, the one day when he was eating I was touching his back and I felt his spine, it looks nowhere near like the back of a normal gerbil, but nothing else is going on, it's been there since we got him, but like I said it feels like it's part of his spine so I don't know if that's just how his back looks or if there's something else going on Edit: I just realized that this is from 4 years ago but if anyone knows about this please explain
@@finsandwhiskers what do you think it could be though? Like I said there hasn't been anything else wrong with him, infact he looks healthy, he's been active and his eyes look fine (I say that because I obviously had two gerbils but their eyes started closing more and more until we brought them to the vet and they didn't make it), the only thing that might be a problem is the fact that he's by himself now, we've been trying to find another gerbil but we haven't been able to because the ones we found were either sick or taken, it's going to the point where he starts throwing himself at the lid of his tank when he wants my attention, other than that he has a good size of tank and plenty of stuff to entertain himself, like I said he's not really depressed or anything he's really active, but whenever he's lonely he tries to make noise to get my attention
@@Cecegoosegirl I can’t be certain, so that’s why it’s important to see a vet. If it’s unusual, and it wasn’t like that before, it is always a good thing to get it checked out. It could become too late otherwise
@@finsandwhiskers it looks the same as it has when we got him, I felt his back again and it didn't seem to hurt him, it felt like it was his skin, like his spine was sticking out or something, we're going to take him to the vet (hopefully), but I don't want to ask my mom if we can go to the store for the 3rd time, but I will as soon as possible
I know this is a slightly older video, but thank you so much for sharing this. My partner and I got two lovely gerbils 2 years ago and finding videos about gerbils and gerbil care, especially as they get older and having such a close bond with them, has been hard to come across! I just discovered your channel and I can't wait to watch more of your other content to learn more about ways to give my gerbils the best life. I never knew how unique and special gerbils really are, and I am so thankful they came into my life. It is so clear how much you loved your little fur babies, and they lived an amazing and fulfilling life with you. I hope you continue your journey of teaching about and sharing the love for these amazing creatures! You have made a wonderful difference. <3
I can appreciate the difficulty of having limited care information for a rodent. I've rescued and kept a certain rare "pet" rodent species (I don't think they should be pets) for two decades. Unfortunately there is so little scientific or otherwise evidence-based information out there to draw on for proper diet in captivity that the internet is fraught with misinformation leading the majority of captive individuals to develop painful and often deadly dental disease. There are people who have gone deep enough into research to develop a healthy diet for this species, but that community that I'm a part of is all but drowned-out by the masses of incorrect information. I don't like to advertise them on the internet because I would hate for someone to hear about them from me and go and buy them, so forgive my crypticity😅
