I'm 4 months post surgery and already into my second stall. I track all of my foods, have good macros, drink at least 64oz of water, and exercise daily. I never had the misconception that I'd lose weight quickly, but doing everything right and still failing has me more depressed than any other time in my life.

I have providence insurance so I have to go to them. Do I ever see the surgeon again after surgery? Nope. Am I comfortable with that nope. Am I going to him anyway because he’s who my insurance covers. Yes.

Glad to hear how i fill. i lost 45 lbs before gastric sleeve and 45 lbs after and have goals of 4 to 5 lbs a month after that. Ill be down to what my surgeon suggested weight for me in about 3 months and that will be 6 months from the sleeve surgery. I would like to loose 25 more lbs after the 6 months and be 199.9 lbs. On my year sleeve anniversary. August of last year i started the weight loss journey at about 340 lbs. It would be great to be the weight i was at 22 when i got married i was 205 lbs now i am 67 years old. Intermittent fasting weighing everything that went in my body and walking has been what worked for me. Starting some strength weight exercises for all those inches coming off me is also muscle. Being a carb. Addict getting enough or what i should have in protien is a challenge. I am happy with vegetables but i need protiens to fill up that small belly space. I am learning new tricks. I will never drink health shakes or powders ever again my body did not agree with them even getting lactose free was horrible. That was for me the worse part of the beariatric program.

Yeah but this surgery isn’t worth it. I wish I had given working out, better eating habits and being around more positive people that pushed me to lose weight.

Im two weeks out from my sleeve. The BIGGEST thing is for me is the mourning of food. That was my best friend. I dont regret the surgery tho, because i was gonna die if I kept living like that. Just make sure you realize your relationship with food will never be the same before you get this surgery. There is no going back. Best regards ❤

Heartburn is a big issue with sleeve. Yes knowing about it is completely different than experiencing it and I am not a fan of otc or prescribed meds. I got approved by my insurance for bypass hopefully soon but I am concerned what if bypass is not going to ease my heartburn otherwise why doing it? My knowledge about it is so far a maybe yes or no heartburn. Please help. 🙏

@maryanntampourlos9908
@maryanntampourlos9908 Год назад
I found in my research and those around me who had the sleeve often times have to go back & have the bypass because they suffer terrible heartburn. I chose the bypass because of that and happy to say 5 months po feeling great w/o heartburn. I’d definitely suggest you speak to your surgeon and get his input. It is stressful enough then add fears and uncertainty. I have a fabulous team here in AZ. Honor Hospital/Dr Swain. Very they are hands on prior to surgery & have great support and appointments following regularly to ensure we are doing well. Wishing you all the best!

I had the bypass and suffered little to no gas issues. Some experience it where others don’t. Am 5 months PO (61yrs young) at 50lbs down and wearing 14 pants compared to 26/28. Have not had problems other than must keep my mind in check to not eat when stressed/lonely/angry/not hungry or bored. Also must be committed to food prep & preparing your foods instead of doing fast food runs. It is truly a lifestyle change in that we must find things to do and move a lot more than previously. Wishing you the best of all!

Am on my 3rd week and is on my purée phase, am still fighting side effects (dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue) I regret that I didn’t do enough research about vsg before having the surgery, I only heard about the good results and not the post op side effects and complications. Being African and doing the surgery was different for me in a sense that I regret I won’t be able to enjoy my native food again, I also regret my portion size will be small. Maybe in the long run I will overcome these regrets, it’s just like you said “after surgery, everyday has a different issue” and I can’t wait for a time where I will feel normal again. Current side effects: Dizziness, Lightheadedness, Chronic Fatigue, Chronic Gas Pain, Unable to really burp, I always feel like the food is sitting in my chest even though am not eating regular food yet. And most of all, regrets of why did I do it and what if.

I liked that you remained quite objective without pushing the surgery but only suggesting it as an option (after considering all the negatives and positives) but that losing without surgery is also an option. Basically what I got out of it all is that if we do nothing (surgery or diet) then nothing will change and that was powerful.
@VSGLifeSkills
@VSGLifeSkills 2 года назад
Thank you for your comment. What I have learned through my journey is that surgery will force your body to lose the weight but we still need to work on our relationship with food, get at the root causes and really deal with them and changing mindset or surgery will just be another diet like all the others. It breaks my heart when I see people wanting to throw in the towel ( which you really can’t … once a bariatric patient always a bariatric patient)… but if someone chooses it it has to be different!
