@@NineNineNineNine It's a good little synth 👍 It comes into its own though if you use the software editor. Just using it standalone turns into a menu diving nightmare 😂
@@EverettDudgeon138 👍😉 I hope you enjoy using one as much as I do 😎 They are so simple and intuitive to use and what shortcomings they have are far outweighed by their ease of use and the immediacy with which you can create tracks 👍👍
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I have more synthwave tracks in the pipeline that may actually use synths with the SP 😉 Thanks again 👍
Hi there. I don't have the MK3 myself unfortunately and I'm not sure what your set up is like. However, if I did have a MK3 I'd probably set it up with the Crave as follows: Take a midi cable from the midi-out on the MK3 to the midi-in on the Crave. Set up a midi track in the Maschine software for the Crave. This means that what you 'play' on that track will be triggered on the Crave. This next bit is probably down to how you have your audio routed but in my case I use an external mixer and so I have my PC's audio connected to that (for Maschine audio) as well as a line out from the Crave. How you route your audio out from Maschine is what will define how you set this aspect up. Is your MK3 connected directly to monitors? If so, you could possibly take the audio out from the Crave directly to the Line In on the MK3 but as I don't have one I'm not sure how that's implemented within the Maschine software. A bit of trial and error on your part may be required 😉
Nice! I’m curious about your workflow with the SP-16, have you described that somewhere? If not, how are you capturing & preparing samples/loops to use in your compositions? Thanks!
Hi there. With respect to samples/loops, I've collected/curated Gigabytes of the things over the years 😂 I occasionally create my own using my synths but recently I've found it more time efficient to just mangle pre-made samples. I'm not sure what you know about the SP but its a very simple machine to work with and although its sample tweaking capabilities are limited, that limitation forces you to be more creative with the tools that it does have. I tend to mix and match the samples I use from various genres and then use the SP to blend them together (hopefully seamlessly 😉). This particular track utilises a main reversed piano sample as its main motif and then a series of drum loops played at different tempos to add the main percussion element of the piece. A couple of bassline samples pop up as well as some one shot percussion samples. Its all pretty simple stuff really 👍
@@Krog360I'm trying to set up it but can figure it out do you need to still route the sound from the crave into the machine or does it sent it thought the usb?
I see that you master the Toraiz. I have some questions about it's live sampling features. Would you share a contact so I can privately ask you about these ? Thank you.
Please feel free to ask a question here 👍If not, there is a great playlist of Toraiz tips and tricks on RU-vid - ru-vid.com/group/PLk1VCXHnvPLB_hgN2o_o64c7yoW8WJMh-&si=AUq3MwKma5DSRdJj
@@Krog360 Thank you. Aware of the 32 secs live sampling limit and the 4 bars (16beats) sequence limit. Can you set your rec length to 32 beats or more? What happens with the live sampled material set to 32 beats, when the 16 beats sequence limit is reached ?
@@EstudioSonorama Okay, I think I understand 🤔 You are right about the 4 bar limit which can sometimes be a problem with longer samples. The workaround that works for me is to set the tempo of the Toraiz to half of what the samples BPM is. For example, if you have a 120bpm sample that needs 8 bars to run, you set the Toraiz to 60bpm and then sit it in the pattern. You then have to possibly modify your composition accordingly but using the Resample or Tempo match functions on a sample can also provide some interesting outcomes 👍 Just remember that this is not an MPC and so in depth sample manipulation is not it's strength but it's ease of use and 'fun' factor more than make up for that 😉
@@Krog360 I considered the tempo halving as an option, but it's not a good idea when syncing the sp to many other devices as master or slave. This limit was a deal breaker. I think the MPC one or Live can work this out, but the Toraiz seemed so good for me.. I thank you for your help and congrats on your productions !
Nice groove especially as its just another house jam on the SP16 :) im thinking of getting one and was wondering about the 4 bar limit - can you have tracks running in 1/8 notes while say the beat runs in 1/16? And can different tracks have different step lengths say 32 and 64 in the same pattern? Cheers
The 4 bar limit is only a sort of 'soft' limit in reality as you have 16 patterns to play with in each project, so technically you could have a 64 bar track with some careful sequencing🤔. You can sequence the tracks with up to a 1/32 quantise rate which in essence gives you 32 steps per bar....sort of! Each pattern can have its own length between 1 and 4 bars. Add into that the 'scenes' functionality and the only real limitation becomes you 😜So, the absolute ultimate project would consist of 16 scenes with each scene having 16 different samples loaded into them and then each of those scenes can hold 16 patterns with each pattern being between 1 and 4 bars !! I hope that all made sense 👍 The Pioneer RU-vid channel has a great set of tutorials which will probably explain it all better than I have 😉 My advice would be to just buy one. They are an intuitive and easy sampler to get up and running with and what they may lack in feature set, they more than make up for in their ease of use 👌
@@Krog360 makes sense I will go ahead especially as I have the AS1 which blends well plus a dedicated midi sequencer that will cover whatever gaps and keep me focused on the sampling aspect which I currently lack - keep those vids on great jams!
