Born in 1960, I’m Janis Lyn Johnson. JLJ Back To Classic is my lifestyle Blog and RU-vid Channel about timeless, understated style, and wholesome beauty and self care.
At RU-vid, you'll find my OOTD videos about my own everyday, classic style; my Product Review videos; my Vlogs exploring where I am and what I’m wearing; and my Beauty and Health videos. (In 2012, I changed my diet and stopped hiding my gray hair, and I am choosing not to do facial injections/Botox or cosmetic surgery.)
I hope you will consider subscribing to my RU-vid channel and to my blog, JLJBackToClassic.com. But, whether or not you decide to subscribe, I appreciate you taking the time to be here. Thank you so much!.
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the kislux leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations.
Yes, it’s a bit strange to place a big bag on the table but many restaurants make it impossible to place anywhere except the floor or hanging from your chair.
Hi Janis. I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your momma. Thank you for sharing the photos of her; she was a beautiful lady. Goodness I am in love with your bag; it is gorgeous. Love the lip color as well. Take care.
I am not being funny, however I notice that all of you bloggers say that you wear a bag/ purse. Please tell me how do you wear a bag/purse. When you carry it in your hand or you carry it across your body. I am a bit puzzle, and no disrespect to you it really sounds silly. Again no disrespect to you and I am not being funny or mean.
Hi, Gretchen! Your sweet comment brought a smile to my face. Yes, I can totally understand why it is confusing to hear me say I"wear" a bag. Here is my reasoning (I can't speak for anyone else). I "carry" a bag when I hold it in my hands (by the top handles or as a clutch). I "wear" a bag when it is on my shoulders or across my body...just like I would "wear" a sweater or shawl over my shoulders. Hope that makes sense! Thank you for leaving your comment :-)
Dear Janis, lovely video as always and it was so touching to hear about your wonderful mum. I'd like to suggest, if it's not too much of an invasion of your privacy, to discuss home decor, furniture and artwork as well, sometimes. I'm sure you must have an impeccable sense of style when it comes to your home interior. Maybe let us come with you when you shop for your home? Just an idea, but I'd love to see more of your taste applied to other fields.
Found my favorite peacock mabe Pearl earrings and handmade silver necklaces in upcountry Maui a local artist decades ago. Found natural peacock necklace with 18K and diamonds on an adjustable 18K chain I bought in Canada. My dream necklace would be peacock baroque pearls. Mabe pearls usually have an open back exposing the shell. It’s proof that the Pearl was created by nature, as so many are fake.
You are such a beautiful lady....so gentle and graceful.... Love your videos and love your style... Also your skin care and makeup products you use are clean and are of less toxins too.. 🎉❤🌹Love that you list them too...
So sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. 97!God Bless her and thank you for sharing the pictures. She was beautiful. You always look elegant and give the best advice for dressing and feeling your best. Thank you. Take care❤️
Dorian Leigh was the Revlon Fire and Ice lipstick model in 1952. There was a 2 page campaign ad that encouraged women to wear makeup for themselves instead of for men, which was very innovative for that era. So you are wearing a classic, much loved lipstick with a history in this video, Janis!
Virginia, oh my goodness, that is fascinating! I did not know this. I just assumed it was a current color. I never dreamed a brand would keep producing a lipstick color for so long. I am so used to brands discontinuing colors --sooner than I would like, actually. That is so wonderful!! No wonder I was drawn to it. That era had such beautiful style. Thank you so much for sharing this! 🙂
Janis, so sorry to hear your mom has passed away. Mine, like yours lived to almost 94 so we had many good years and memories with them. My mother loved her red lipstick too. My deepest condolences. Thanks for sharing the lovely outfit. The jewelry was so beautiful!
Hi, Janis, I love your outfit! I would like to ask you about your silk cardigan(brand)... you said it has been more than 25 yrs and also could you tell me your pretty ballet shoes (brand)? Moreover, your white blouse at 14:21 of youtube is much pretty!!! Could you tell me what brand of the blouse? Thanks for your RU-vid & Posting.
BEAUTIFUL Bag❤ i was hoping you would have bought it sine the last video…😂Congratulations❤❤ I agree with whoever advised you, please take care and always lock your car when you are filming in it please. Another RU-vidr I watched actually had someone who watched her shop in Chanel, followed her from Shopping Mall A to B and then robbed her……please please please- Safety First🙏🏻
Janis, my condolences on the passing of your mother. It’s never easy to loose someone you love 💕. I love the Waterside Shops. I’ve purchased a few Louis Vuitton purses from the boutique there. I’m a fan of your videos.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful jewellery, I also love pearls, and like you I also love my charm bracelet that my mother gave to me. Thank you again.
Dear Janis, I'm so sorry to hear that your mother has passed away. You look beautiful today as always, love the bright lip! It's wet here the UK at the moment too, a bit odd for July! X
Hello Janice. So sorry to hear you have lost your lovely Mum ❤️I know how that feels. You look lovely in your video. Could you do another video about eating healthily and your meals please xx💖
Thank you for bringing us along to your finest destinations, dear Janis! and my deepest sympathies on the passing of your Mom. I, too, recall the grand location where you would film outside, when you went to visit her. Grateful you had her as long as you did!
@@user-wj5ce6zo9c Thank you for your condolences. I do appreciate it. Regarding your question: Yes, I do try my best to support cosmetic brands that offer vegan and cruelty free, and my emphasis is on non-toxic ingredients. Most importantly, they must be non-toxic. I was excited to find a less expensive/drugstore brand that offered a lovely and non-toxic lip color for those who prefer or need a lower priced, health-conscious lip color. I wish all brands (all manufacturers) would stop testing on animals, but that just isn't the case yet. Hopefully with AI, it will be the case sooner rather than later. I am so sorry to let you down regarding this. I can understand your frustration. I do admire your commitment to animals. I am not vegan or vegetarian, as you know, but when buying groceries I only buy organic, grass-fed and wild-caught, which is the most humane. It isn't perfect, but it's what I'm doing for now. Wishing you all the best. ~ Janis
my condolences on the loss of your mother. The world is a different place without our mother. ❤ No matter our age. The lipstick is absolutely gorgeous on you.
So sorry, on the loss of your beautiful mother. Red lipstick looks beautiful on both you and your mother. Thank you, Love it all, your outfit, handbag and DY earrings. Take care and be safe. 😊
Hi Janis. You look lovely in the Revlon Fire and Ice lipstick. A classic from the 1950s, I believe, and one of my faves. I’m very sorry for your loss of your Mom. She was a beautiful lady. I lost my Mother in February and my Dad almost four years ago. It’s really hard when both parents are gone. My heart goes out to you. Hugs. Diane
