What is the theory behind how these security dongles work? I imagine, the application generates a random number based (using date/time, mouse movement, etc as a seed) then sends it to the dongle, where it returns a number that is validated? However, there must be more to it, since the software could be patched such that it always sends the same number and/or accepts any value returned. Any thoughts on Cynthion or tinySniffer ?
