It's more than obvious how far ahead Paco is technically compared to Jan. What's tripping Jan up is his right-hand technique with the use of a pick instead of the classical guitar approach. Matteo Mancuso has shown lately how advantageous that technique is for all kinds of genres. Besides, he doesn't mesh with Paco's style of playing at all.
Hi friend. I see all the replies have been deleted, it looks like maybe that bothers you😂. I can resubmit the same text without you being able to delete it if that interests you. But maybe it's not you who deleted them, maybe it's a ghost.😂 Come on, don't worry, there are more serious things in life, but learn to talk about what you know and I think you don't know much about music, ciao😊😊
It's true what you say. Everyone brings their stone to the building where they are. Except that the exception is Jan Akkerman. He's the most complete guitarist I know.😊
Paco did have astonishing technique. He could make his thumb on his right hand move with such speed that I don't understand how he humanly did it. There are other videos online that are enjoyable collaborations, like Jan and Philip Catherine in late 1974. Again, Jan was venturing into Philip's territory with a jazz theme of his own making.
On the contrary. mr de Lucia was just "running off" his greatest hit here. No creativity whatsoever, while mr Akkerman was asked to improvise in a style that is completely strange to him. Mr Akkermans performance here is better!
With all respect for Paco, you should rather say the opposite. I'm sure you know absolutely nothing about Jan Akkerman. that's why you speak like this. If you talk about level at this point you have to talk about the most complete players because technique is not measured just on a style it is measured in different instruments, different types of guitars as well as lute playing and in the musical styles. for example, it's not the one who is better in math who is the best student, it's the one who has a very good level everywhere. in music it's the same. Jan Akkerman is an exception; he uses technique according to the musical style. He also has classical training. find out and listen with an independent and honest ear before talking about what you don't know. It’s the same for Mattéo Mancuso. I love this player but he is much less complete than Jan Akkerman. And I'm not even talking about rhythm guitar in which Jan Akkerman is also recognized as a master. Don't forget that the more complete we are, the greater the musicality, the wider the feeling as well 😊
@@Klfmjgfg45 + Jan Akkerman is also very good at Gypsy Jazz. There is a video of Jan playing with the Stochelo Rosenberg trio. He plays it like a professional...
@rientsdijkstra4266 that's right, you're right. I know these videos. He tackled many other genres including strange experimental and he merged different styles. But apparently you and I know this. This is unfortunately not the case for some who make comments without knowing the substance of the subject. Let's enjoy these fantastic musicians while we can and appreciate them for what they are worth. 😃
Sorry , Ackerman is a great players , but the effect loaded Les Paul just does not do this job !! He should have used a Gypsy Jazz guitar ( Macafieri or copy) Playing with Paco with an electric guitar doesn't work !!!!
it was the 70's man and Jan did use the flanger quite a lot in Focus. In the interview, i says that that they only met just before this, so maybe there wasnt much setup time
Mr De Lucia is a phenomenal (!) musician and probably the best guitar player ever, but with all due respect: he is just playing through one of his greatest hits here, while Jan Akkerman is inventing his notes on the spot in a style that is completely not his own. So I would rate Akkermans performance here higher in a musical sense...
Jan is feeling like a student here. I love flamenco but could never really master that alternate index and second finger picking displayed here, definitely one of the hardest things.
Esa fusión con Akkerman realmente es muy fea, hay que decirlo, el sonido de su guitarra es horrible, esto, independiente de la calidad de Akkerman individualmente en su estilo. Fin.
I wished these two would’ve got together and cut an album together. Both are phenomenal musicians and if they had time could’ve worked out some really good performances. 😊👍
This sounds like "meirdre de perro" or dog shit. Sorry, but Akkerman is ruining the beauty of Paco's music. Really, I mean no disrespect here but this is terrible.
