This looks similr to a '57 I had. Mine also had the exhaust pipe going down and out at the back. Almost all of these tractors have the exhaust pipe going upwards. I always wondered what the reason was for the pipe to go backwards like a car's.
Very good looking Major and purrs like a kitten. All of the majors had silver radiator grills, you will be surprised at how much it adds to the look by painting those silver. Most people mistakenly paint them Orange. And sometimes blue.
As you know now it's not a supermajor and around 1952 or so at a guess, if that fuel tank is original to that tractor it used to be a petrol/ vaporizing oil engine tractor as it has the twin fill caps on the tank diesels only had one cap. My family had one back in the day in the U.K that was converted over to a diesel they farmed with. Back in the 90's I bought one to rebuild and sell that had been done to, that had the original 2 filler tank still as well. Back in those days before the internet got big those tractors with original petrol /Vap engines were real rare and hard to find. Now I live in Canada I have a very original straight petrol version it's older than this one as it has the curved rib on the fenders without the straight ones you have, yours are the second version before they deleted the curved top rib..
