Hi there! I completely understand that at first glance with no previous knowledge this can be a very misunderstood grooming technique, but it is essential to maintaining healthy skin and coat for these wire costed breeds. The best way I can put it is that if you think of a breed like a golden or Australian shepherd that shed their dead coat, these guys need help removing that dead coat. When they were living on farms and running through treacherous terrain, the coat would get removed by running through dense brush while protecting the dog. Nowadays, we as groomers need to help them safely and comfortable remove this coat or it will lead to clogged follicals/pores, bumps, irritation, and much more as certain breeds can grow up to 27 hairs in a single pore. If you were to clip their coats instead, all of the dead hair would stay clogged in their pores as well, leading to the same skin issues. Aside from that, dogs, especially Terriers are not shy about letting it be known if they do or do not like something, and they will let you know. Missy has this done regularly, is kept comfortable, and is happy, clean, healthy, and spoiled absolutely rotten because I love her as if I literally brought her into this world myself. I hope this helps create a better understanding for you as to why this incredibly important grooming technique is 100% necessary to properly care for our best companions in life 🖤
This is by far the most in depth video I've come across for hand stripping ears! I really appreciate how detailed you are when explaining things, it super helpful! Can't wait for more tutorials 😊
Some of the products codes did not work on the Artero website. I had to use descriptions. Some products not available on Artero website so I found on Amazon.
It's a very fine chunker, as if a thinner and a chunker had a baby and this was the marvelous result. A thinner can definitely be used, just might take a little longer to accomplish vs the chunker. Thank you for asking!
I love your videos!! I really appreciate how detailed you are when going over different products and how you use them I've loved and used Artero products for years, and I still learned something new about needing to rinse out silicone based products like mat x I would love to see you cover hand stripped westies in the future! I really enjoy learning about different hand stripped breeds, but at the moment I only have access to a westie and would love to learn how to better emulate the breed standard for competitions or show Looking forward to your next video 😊
Thank you so much! And I LOVE Westies! It's one of the breeds I've worked with, competed with, and heavily considered adding to my little family crew 😊 I will definitely do one on them and many more handstrip breeds in the future! Thank you for commenting and for the request!
He was so nervous at drop off I was honestly almost concerned I wouldn't be able to do a full groom on him! But after a little time making him feel safe, he was pure putty 😍 Thanks for the comment!
