New old waltz (swineherd) Long time ago a swineherd, a stony man existed in the world And a princess, a proud Maid was One day they met and he took a step ahead ((one further step=un paso más, one more step)) and said: goodness, what good a mum you seem, there is a lovely dress you wear, damn close-fitting It is masked, isn't it? Go out of the road, you are an odd assailer if you ask me. I am a princess, i am called kunnigunda, rather (=bastante, quite,=much) knit-picking, choos(e)y, fussy, the Apple of the king's eye New Old Waltz (Hombre porquerizo) Hace mucho tiempo en el mundo existió. You, not slowly at all, be a bit modern Listen to me drumming on my frying pan digg digg pop tjong on the feretory What funny a song you have just played, haven't you? If you teach me to play the drum you will be able to kiss my mouth Every girl has a mouth, what about for a song (for nothing)? Drink out of the Brook, live on ((off)) the soil If you have a penny in your pocket you can manage yourself You were barefaced, you did not find gold, but you can touch my frying pan Digg digg pop Tú, nada despacio, sé un poco moderno. It is hightime, it was a good dance, the bride must be in a hurry What on earth (what ever, what the devil) do you see in him? ((Wild gooses)) good chances flow easily where it looks bonny, it sounds green, the sound of a lajban Let us make a deal, we say great deal or we stand (apart) I am going to be a modern swineherd, the king's right hand Me as a princess? Of course you are in fashion (fashionably) Then take my thigh, take my frying pan Sonó el rebozuelo, era un buen baile, la novia debe tener prisa. Por supuesto que estás a la moda Entonces toma mi muslo, toma mi sartén He as a princess, modern man in clips Taken out of the racetrack (field, ground, court) by a patrol (squad) She, as a lady swineherd, acts the bride wearing a tie She drove the man crazy, she played bhang You can make the best of a bad bargain Él como princesa, hombre moderno en clips. ((You can read the grimm brothers, Charles perrault, hans Christian andersen, selma lagerlof, leon tolstoi, august and friedrich schlegel, and so on)) New-Old Waltz (Hip pig breeder) Once upon a time there was A pig breeder, a really cool man And a princess, a proud maiden she was One day they met and he stepped up to her and said: Gosh almighty, you seem to be a cool lady Look at that dress, really happening Is there a fancy dress party or something? Get lost, you're such a peasant I'm a princess, rather prudish My name is Cunigunda, the king's sweetheart Hey, take it easy, chill out Listen to me drumming on my saucepan Dig dig pop... Oops, such a groovy tune you drummed just there If you teach me how to drum you can kiss me Every girl has a mouth, what about a coin instead? I drink from the brook, I eat soil If you have a coin in your pocket you're better off You're such a cheeky devil, you won't get any gold But I want to drum on your saucepan Dig dig pop... Bang, gosh, the girl's in a hurry What's so special about it? There are lots of saucepans That saucepan sounds groovy, a cool sound, a nice ring to it Let's make a deal, take it or leave it I'll be a hip pig breeder, and you can be the king's sweetheart Me as a princess? Sure, I'm hip Then take my drum, take my saucepan He, as a princess, a hip man wearing clip-on ties Was thrown out of the castle by the guards She, as a pig breeder, a prudish chick wearing a tie Drove everybody mad, playing her saucepan Trading your ѕaucepan turned out to be a really bad ideа ((((Sweet dreams=dulces sueños The short waves=las ondas cortas The music stars=las estrellas de la música vom=from ein=a mit dir in=with you in am Lago Maggiore=in Main Lake Und=and)))) 15/7/2024
The Polly Brown song " do you believe in love at first sight "was later covered by Dionne Warwick in 1977 it failed to chart . Of course, Hazell Dean here at only 19 yrs old would persevere to eventually have big hits in the 80s with a different style altogether.
Warum? Wаrum? Why just why Why has all to die? Oh why is nothing left? You leave me, do not turn about Give me the answer: why? Por qué sólo por qué? ¿Por qué todo tiene que perecer? Oh... Why do the flowers blossom so nicely? Oh if soon they wilt, Wither, and fade out A dream escapes, the hours run out ¿Por qué las flores florecen tan bellamente? Often i hear your word: i am yours for ever I believed you but it was just an illusion Por favor dame la respuesta: ¿por qué, por qué? Hum why has all to be that way? Oh why am i so alone now? Before you go, turn about and then give the answer: why? Mmm…
Incredible to think thatr Brotherhood of Man won this contest by a mere two votes, with Co-Co in second place with "Wake Up." It's also sad to see Frank Ifield coming 12th and last. He toiled manfully with a decidedly average song. Tony Christie, too, sang well, but the song wasn't strong enough. He came third. I rather liked Tammy Jones singing "Love's a Carousel" (sixth). The right song won, of course, and became a Eurovision classic.
Difficult to believe Abba is only 15 years in the future. I feel that having three-digit number places on the scoreboard was optimistic, though thorough.
The best German Eurovision song in history from the best voice in German pop history won: Ein Lied kann eine Brücke sein (A Song Can be a Bridge). There's one very awkward line in the chorus (Und jeder Ton ist wie ein Stein) which makes my intestines freeze every time I listen to it.
I was fourteen-years-of-age, and on an 'exchange visit' to Paris, to stay with the family of Philippe Burie, in the Rue des Mathurins, when I watched this; and I was actually embarrassed when we won! Loved Luxembourg's entry: and I'm sure it had greater longevity than 'Puppet'.
Switzerland is my favourite. I must say, the song contest in 1959 was so much more classy and cultured than what we are forced to endure and tolerate these days.
