What kinds of people can relaquer instruments? I’m looking for someone to relaquer my Bach TR200. Does any normal shop do it or do they have to be specialized in lacquering instruments?
I don't believe any shop can do it. For instance a large chain music store like Music And Arts does not. You are better off calling a small "mom & pop" repair shop to see if they can re-lacquer your instrument. Also, Manage your expectations. Putting new lacquer on your horn will never look as good as factory lacquer, but it can get really close. If you can't find anyone let me know, we do it for $545 dollars. You just have to pay for shipping to and from as well!
It looks great! I have lacquered horns from clear out of spray, cans, and do not get a lot of depth, only cloudiness. That’s why I asked if it’s a bake on epoxy type clear. Thank you for responding !
What is really amazing is that most of the work was done by an 87 year old repair man! I didn't grab the model number off the horn unfortunately, I just know it was an old Bundy. I estimate the total hours of work was around 13-15 hours. More specifically, the cleaning took about 2 hours, the dent work 4 hours, the filing down of the imperfections was tedious probably 3 hours, polishing and buffing 2 hours. Thanks for the comment!

Fuck... this song is so good, my favorite Bandits song for sure, and that's saying a lot cause they've been one of my biggest influences as a musician too. I love all of their stuff.
