Ironically, the fact that Atlanta, Detroit, and St. Louis didn’t have the ability to tear their Fox Theatres down was a major first step in their preservation. As someone who has been to the Detroit Fox a few times, I feel sad about the loss of the San Francisco Fox, the New York Fox, the New York Paramount, the Roxy, and so many others.
What a Great Time Like 1972 To be a Big Part of McDonald's! Wished That Every Franchise would of Thought Like That with the Kids' McDonald Land's Play Park! The Hamburglar Swing Set and The Apple Pie Tree were my Two of my Favorite things There! Kids Now a Days Don't Even Have the slightest Idea of what they have missed out on like the Things I had as a kid growing up in that Time Era! I Miss Both The McDonaldLand Cookies and Original Shamrock Shakes as well as the Late 1960s Wide McDonald's Sign being Grounded by the Expanded Double Golden Arches! McDonald's has phased out totally Everything Original That has to do with Ronald and His McDonaldLand! I Almost Don't Go there anymore!
As a kid who grew up in the 70s, I love that Eric just wanders off to hang out with a clown in a secret grotto and his parents don't even notice or care.
2:17 "As much as I'd like to look around. I better get back to enjoy some milkshakes." "Sorry, Georgie. I'm afraid that option anymore." (This could legit be a start horror film.)
All the McDonald's playgrounds quickly turned into hellholes back then. Quite quickly, actually. Mostly due to the same "Un-Named" segment of society that commits all the crimes today. Between fights, injuries sustained from the metal surfaces, e-coli, fecal matter, etc. Yeah, they all went away pretty quickly.
Loved this park for lots of reasons. Whereas Marriotts Great America had all the big kid rides , it also was brand new and had no shade. The trees were newly planted. Frontier Village was almost completely surrounded w large shade trees. Very cool (literally) place to spend a hot summer day
Sadly, I never got to experience one of these outdoor McDonaldland playgrounds. I was born in 1991 and by then, most of these outdoor playgrounds were gone from McDonald's restaurants, due to the large number of injuries children sustained from the hard, metal structures. My local McDonald's had a PlayPlace with the tubes and a ball pit. I enjoyed that when I was a kid. Now that's gone, as are most play areas in McDonald's and Burger King restaurants. Nowadays, it's rarer to find a restaurant that has a play area than one that doesn't. I can understand why because of injuries, griminess, bacteria and COVID-19. Not to mention, kids spend too much time on smartphones and tablets.
He just sauntered away from his parents. No questions asked, just gonzo. His parents are so busy with their deep discussion, they don't even know junior went to freak land to be indoctrinated into the Ronald McDonald fan club. It's like middle American Woodstock for kids.
That's pretty much how it was in the 70's.. kids would roam at will, and the parents wouldn't even notice, or they would notice and assume their little one was going off to explore and/or play for awhile, and would know enough to come back in a reasonable time. Today's paranoid parents would be frantic and traumatized if their kids left their sight. And if they went far enough, they just might get themselves charged with child neglect by the local authorities.. especially if some other parent saw an unsupervised kid roaming around and called the cops. Back in 1980 when I was 5 years old, my six year old sister and I went roaming around the downtown of our city and got lost. That was well before our former city's downtown area became its own freak land. 😂 There really wasn't anything to worry about back then, so long as we didn't dart into traffic. The police eventually picked us up and drove us home. My father answered the door, thanked the cop and apologized for his wasted time, and then proceeded to spank both of us right in front of the cop before shutting the door! Sounds crazy today, but that was completely normal back then, and I'm sure the cop, rather than thinking of charging my father with assault, was actually reassured by it and was thinking "ohh here's a good dad". My sister and I learned a valuable lesson that day. Roam all you want, but whatever you do, DON'T get lost! 😂
Have you ever found or seen a better quality version of this intermission item played at SFUFY Theatres, back in the day? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yS7bHM1BMJ4.html&ab_channel=TheSmartfolks
