Hello! Later this month we're planning to hike the Black Cloud Trail (group of 5) and want to split it into a two day climb to get a head start on the PM thunderstorms, camping somewhere along the trail below the treeline. According to AllTrails there are suitable locations at 11,000' and 11,600' to set up a tent, but from personal experience, did you see any relatively flat or open spots below treeline that looked suitable for tent camping (and are large enough for a group of 5)? Thank you for sharing your climb!
You get about 40 minutes at the top and the train does depart on time, not waiting for anyone who is even a few seconds late as we witnessed on our trip.
What is also amazing is that they would flood the Colosseum and have mock naval battles called Naumachia. There are so many fascinating aspects of the Colosseum and ancient Rome. Thanks for the comment!
It seems historians can not agree on how many people it could hold. Some believe it was over 80,000. 🤷 That is cool that your parents took you there, it really is special to see it in person and image what went on there and how many people have visited that site through the ages.
Damn! You missed out on some of the best parts of Nebraska if you were only in North Platte and Kearney. Omaha has some cool stuff, but I would highly recommend Ogallala and Scottsbluff. The lake and sandhills by Ogallala are absolutely gorgeous and Scottsbluff is something incredibly stunning. If you go out there in August, they have a hot air balloon festival.
Thanks for the tips! We’ll definitely need to check out Ogallala and Scottsbluff next time we're in Nebraska. We do live pretty close so I know we will be back at some point. The lake, sandhills, and a hot air balloon festival sound amazing! Appreciate you sharing these suggestions with us.
Wow, that’s impressive! Your grandson must be quite the little adventurer! The views from the Incline are definitely worth the effort. Thanks for sharing your story with us!
Couldn't agree more! The combination of the Great Sand Dunes and the Sangre De Cristo Mountains is truly awe-inspiring. There's something almost magical about that place. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
Tough people back then! Amazing they could live so remotely & support their families. Beautiful area, thanks for sharing! Just found your video, haven't seen one in awhile.
Absolutely, those pioneers were incredibly tough and resilient! It’s amazing to think about the challenges they faced. We're so glad you enjoyed the video and the beautiful scenery. Thanks for finding us and for your kind words!
Oh no, that must have been tough for your friend! The Manitou Incline can definitely be a challenge, but it's so rewarding once you reach the top. We hope your next adventure is filled with more laughs and fewer tears.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you found the video informative. The Denver to Glenwood Springs route is one of our favorites, and we're glad you enjoyed it as much as we did. If you have any questions or need more info about the trip, feel free to ask. Enjoy your travels!
That must of been interesting to see! I have no doubts that it was very loud. When I was in the Army I operated a much smaller missile system (T.O.W.) and there were very loud even though the missile was small enough to be launched from a humvee. Thanks for the comment!!
Hovenweep is my 2nd favorite place, ever. Besides the towers and Castles, there is a small alcove beneath one of the ruins where you can see where children left colored handprints on the walls. 1000 yrs ago. (Or less, maybe they were visiting this older sight also.)
Wow, we missed that. But yes Hovenweep is a pretty special place. We did not plan on staying the night there but we are so glad that we did. We also hope to return to the area again soon and do even deeper exploring. Thanks for watching and leaving such a great comment!
Thank you for sharing your feelings, and we absolutely understand your concern. It's truly heart-wrenching to see majestic animals like lions outside their natural habitat. We want to highlight that many zoos today are deeply committed to conservation and education. They work to protect endangered species and provide them with environments that closely resemble their natural habitats. (this is old footage before Lincoln Park updated the lion enclosure) These efforts not only help animals in captivity but also contribute to global conservation efforts. We believe that by raising awareness and educating the public, zoos can foster a deeper appreciation and active care for wildlife. Your sentiment reminds us all of the continuous need for improvement in how we care for our planet's magnificent creatures. 🦁💚
Since 1958 I have ridden the Wisconsin Ducks every few years. In the past I brought my children to the Wisconsin Dells. This year, 2024, I will bring my Grandchildren.
They truly are classic!! Based on your comment you've probably also been to Tommy Bartlett's Water Ski & Jumping Boat Thrill Show, but sadly that Dell's classic is no more. 😔
@@Learningtotravel Yes- We got to the Tommy Bartlett show, but it was in 1987. The Dells guidebook and other internet comments show that his show is gone. I guess we’ll have to adapt.
The ride follows the Rio Grande for about 3 miles toward Creede. The turn around point is sort of a non descript area with a few picnic tables. They've also recently added a longer ride that is 12.5 miles round trip. Details can be found here: www.revrail.com/south-fork-railbiking Hope that helps. Thanks for watching, let us know if you have any more questions.
I was an engineer on the Cog for 4 years. Drove those trains up and down probably about 400 times from 82-86. Sure looks different now, new trains, new summit building, donuts look the same though. It was a great job and had some good people to work with. Best part though was in the winter when the trains shut down and us full timers worked on the trains. I learned a lot there but eventually got tired of going up and the sitting down all day driving was killing me. Never got tired of the view though, I’d recommend it to anyone!
Hello Bryan, thanks for sharing your experience as an engineer on the cog, that is pretty cool. Though we can understand how running up and down that route would eventually get old. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment! We appreciate it.
The approximate footprint in the van we were working with was 45 inches by 80 inches. Each shelf is 23.75 inches by 40 inches. The shelves are not super rigid so there is some wiggle room. We bought the shelves locally so they would be easy to return if they did not fit properly but they turned out to be perfect. I hope that answers your question, if not let me know and I try to help best I can. Thanks for watching!!
Right? Illinois is Chicago and cornfields, basically. But there are some great places to be found. The very southern part of IL is much like Starved Rock. Giant City State Park would also be worth a Google Pin. Thanks for watching!
It is a pretty cool little island that not too many people know about. Fun fact, the top of Mt Scenery is the highest point in the Netherlands. Thanks for watching. 🙂
I liked your video. Thanks for talking about where to get information for Canyon of the Ancients. We're staying near Dolores soon and that was great info to have.
Getting around is a big challenge in Glenwood. Everything we did was in town so we were able to walk. Maybe try calling Sunlight Mountain Resort and see if they have any shuttles from town? 🤷🏼♂️ Sorry we can't offer more help.
My family is planning to see the cranes. Id love to take my camera, do you think a 250mm lens is big enough to get good shots? Thank you for the great video on what to expect!
A 250 mm should be good enough. The biggest zoom lens we have is 200 mm, and I am happy with what we shot. All depends on what type of shots you are after, really. Thanks for watching and we are glad it was helpful.
