The K-State Pollution Prevention Institute (PPI) is housed within the College of Engineering at Kansas State University. Started in 1989 and entirely grant-funded, PPI provides a number of services: Environmental technical assistance- PPI operates the Kansas Small Business Environmental Assistance Program (SBEAP) whose goal is to assist small businesses with understanding and complying with environmental regulations. Pollution prevention assistance- Funded through various grants from the EPA, KDHE, USDA, and Department of Energy, PPI serves as great resource for pollution prevention assistance. Intern Program- The PPI intern program pairs top-level engineering and environmental science students with Kansas business and industry and trains and mentors them during 10-week summer placements. Resources, training, and workshops- PPI hosts various webinars and workshops on specific environmental regulations and pollution prevention and develops and updates environmental tools and publication
