I want to connect with Uber and Lyft rideshare drivers. I want to help my community earn as much money as possible, while also being safe, healthy, and having fun.
It's hard for drivers. The apps don't care about us. Passengers don't care too. Sometimes, it feels like we're out there all alone.

I wouldnt have taken it. I don't do long trips. They're rarely ever worth it and I really can't stand having strangers in my car for any longer than 10-20 minutes. Short and sweet trips for me all day!!
Uber math. They are paying hourly as promised. Put in trip request and see what the passenger would be paying. I took a long trip passenger paid $200 I got $48 no tip, only reason I took it was on my way home, at 3 A.M. in my region, the promise is $24 per hour. Took 2 hours exactly. Uber math....I did on another quiet day get the difference of $20 added after I clocked out.
Sound logic... however... i would love if UBER made these long trips worth it for us... i don't think there is anyway they can because the margin is too small... however I would much prefer to do one, two or three trips per day as opposed to 20-25 trips... why? while most people are perfectly fine.. it's the law of averages... Deal with 3 people per day or deal with 25? Yes the short trips are the most profitable in terms of dollars per mile, at least in Albany.. but like i said... Dealing with all those people could present issues depending on your market.
Uber should allow to driver approval the stops when the rider are willing to do so! Is really scary when the rider make changes on the trip and we don’t know where’s gonna be for my is really disrespectful that a rider make changes with out our consent and that is because we choose the ride knowing the destinations including stops this is a safety concern and need to be fixed! You have a great videos I follow your channel is really educational for us thank you 🙏
It's like this Levy you can't win them all but there is a butt in the butt is you just got to know where the hot spots are at in your area.I know where my hotspots are at in my area and all it takes is a little patience not everyone is going to tip especially in my area so you got to find other cities that you know they got money and it's really simple you just got to know in the area how people are living and that's your answer❤
Out here in canton ohio id gladly take that trip. We dont have upfront pricing and that trip was guaranteed $200 not hoping for ppl to tip. I drive a hybrid gas isnt the big deal for me. But personally id look up the rider app for the riders drop off address and talk with them to possibly convert it to a private trip. Some people are stranded and will pay whatever they need to get to their destination. In my area Canton ohio its still rate card .70 per mile .16 minute so i look for any long trip going to Cleveland Ohio (upfront pricing tons of volume
Great topic, great video. You drove almost 300 miles less. Extrapolate that out over a year, and that is massive savings. Reducing repair cost and accident cost is huge.
Is it a foregone conclusion that the entire return trip would be an empty leg? Would your calculus change if you thought you could get another long ride in the other direction?
I think some people get lucky and some people don't that's just how the ride share business goes but there's always room for opportunity to get great tips the only problem is it's not consistently and no I would not taking a trip for $200 that's just too long of a trip just think about it you're going to lose money coming back home😢.
Hard pass on the 4.80 rating long distance. Ask yourself, do you really want to ride 4-5 hrs with a person rated low. They could be very high maintenance, bad conversation, etc... and no tip? Im like you Levi, i work for and earn big tips. It involves more dead miles, but i write off all miles door to door daily. I prefer 20-30 mile airport runs. I dont like to brag, but because i work those kinds of trips, i get tips 90% of trips.
I understand why you declined that long trip but I would had taken that fare. Moat of my best tips come from either airport runs or long drives like that. At least you didn't have to put a lot of miles on your car.
When I take long trips it's because I feel like doing something different, seeing another part of my State. Possibly having a great interesting conversation. It's never profit because I'm going to drive home empty. The 1hr trips to a city near by I can get ride back and if that happens it's really good. But going 4hrs you have 0% chance of a ride back. And your math just proves to me that people driving those crossover SUVs don't make money ever. My Model 3 std range is $0.18 per mile no matter how I run the numbers, that's as high as I can go. And that's after 80,000 Uber miles in 14 months. It's all about your cost per mile!
That's a negative, Ghostrider, on that trip. During track season here in Saratoga I see a lot of trips to NYC & NJ. I don't take them and I'm closer to NYC than you. Something else to consider: Theoretically, you could've gotten a trip or two on the way home which would've increased your income and possibility of tips.
My neighbor has driven for helping hands for 10 years .HE THINKS he makes 62 cents a kilometre tax free but his 2012 Totota corrolla is almost wrn out. He also is forced to pay $ 110.00 for extra insurance. He get about $ 1200. a month driving 5 days a week but I think his real costs are $ 1,200. a month. I told him that he would be better off volunteering at the food kitch. He also parked $ 220 K in 3.25 % savings for the lat 6 years. The depreciation in the last 6 years is about $ 28,000 on $ 220 K isn't it minus the interest he pays tax on.
Cars are tools, not investments, just like how houses are shelter, not investments. Also the fact that cars cost so much to buy and run is just a huge sign that we should move away from them while embracing public transit and bicycles and our own two feet
From the time your car leaves the dealership lot it starts to depreciate regardless if it’s new or used your Tesla perfect example not worth the same when purchased new.
Good one Levi. My guess is that the people watching your videos are good at accounting, but on the rare occasions I use Uber, it's obvious the driver doesn't do proper accounting. Uber, I think, counts on drivers ignorance. I see who is parked at the airport, and they are not making what they think they are.
Most Toyotas will go 300k miles plus! The camry and Prius are the 2 best cars for UBERX. I bought 2 toyotas with 85k miles on each car in the last 8 months. I plan 2 run each car to 250k miles. I hope to get 330,000 miles more between the 2 cars that I paid $35K for. I charge $3 a mile so I will make a minimum of $1.50 a mile over the next 4 yrs that will gross me a minimum of $462,000 before expenses and be able to write off a minimum of $221,000 on mileage alone over the 4 yrs. So currently I am making about $100k a year of which $50k is cash and I write down $35k on mileage which leaves me with $15k net on my taxes which means I pay hardly any taxes and get Medi-Cal/ free healthcare! Saves me at least$10k in premiums a year and I pay zero for any procedures or surgeries. Uber taught me how to be the best Uber driver possible! Then I took that knowledge and made myself some real money! Levi! Start doing private rides! I have a $750 day lined up tomorrow on 5 private rides. I have never been in an accident behind the wheel and I am 55.
Today I have 2 rides for $300. in 2 days I will make $1k off of 7 rides! This is what UBER has taught and made me do and I want to give a big thank you to Uber for teaching me
The people I drive private are highly successful and way more intelligent with way better conversations then 99% of Uber pax! Half of The Boomers have retired! The other half will in the next 8 yrs. They have all the wealth and free time to travel now. I have my business cards in AAA travel agency with 4 travel agents in San Clemente. A wealthy beach town in the OC. These people travel for leisure 2 to 4 times a year and have grandkids to go visit. This office alone sends me $25k a year in business. My other brilliant move was I door hangered the 55 plus gated community. When I did the guy who had a monopoly retired and I got all of his business. I have a 5th travel agent who does Corporate travel and for her wealthy friends. This travel agent gave me her best friend who is an heiress to 100's of millions when her 93 yr old mother passses. She is 70 and doesn't want to drive anymore. So I drive her a lot. She is a $20k a year client who lives 4 miles away from me in Coto De Caza. My life now compared to 2 yrs ago! I no longer worry about money and the people I drive have become family and look at me as someone they can trust and be excited to see. You go DEEP when you connect with people regularly.
