I was a competitive swimmer in hi school and collage. During those years I worked as a lifeguard at the beaches of Toronto in the summer and would see rowers from the Argonaut rowing team practice. I thought, wow that looks like fun so off I go and singed up. Was I in for a surprise of my life. The season is short and you had to take advantage of every day possible to train. I was put is seat 5 and rowed starboard. We train from 5pm to 8pm 7 days a week, and I'll never forget my first race. I never felt as much pain and fatigue in my life at the end of a 2000m race in St Catharines. I rowed 3 years and enjoyed every minute. I'm 75 now and remember it like it was yesterday.
It was in the last 6 minutes that I arrived into the consistency Sarah was coaching us about. Didn't think I'd have the patience to stay at 20s/m for 20 mins but rowing with Sarah made all the difference .Thanks Hydrow!
