In 1982 Pat Parelli began creating a natural horsemanship program to improve the relationship between humans and horses. Pat promoted the concept of love, language and leadership. Pat’s desire to spread this knowledge to the world rose up in him after watching his mentors Tom Dorrance and Ray Hunt work with horses.

Am very disappointed with this video. Why was kid not told straight up that most "problems" this horse has is a direct result of rider and how he was taught to ride. Ive only ever known a horse do what this horse is doing with bit as a result of pain and riders pulling on there mouths. This kid should be riding in bitless or headcollar for now. Horse running off appears to me to be as result of rider being tense. I do like some things pat did such as making kid drop reins but until he refines his hands i think no bit. And oh my god, i know Pat correctted but i think should have been done alot sooner, the cinch, wow. One more thing i feel horse was npt biting at himeself but at rider, lots of reasons but main one being the cinch. 😢😢😢

Years ago..1990’s..in Corvallis MT.. a Pony Club ( organization)..was insisting..that the kids.. Clean to horses HOOFS FIRST…I a horsewoman from the 1960’s…said ( for my kid) we like to attend to the feet. After some time grooming..15 minutes or so.. they wouldn’t have it..their way.. well we didn’t JOIN…besides they frowned on bareback riding..no thanks we have fun and skill on our horses.. maybe they have changed..I think Not.

The reason most horse people struggle with horses is, most horse people have very little interest in horses. Their interest lies in riding, or in horse sports. The horse's thoughts and emotions are just an inconvenience to those kinds of people. Whenever the horse behaves like a horse, he gets punished for it. Most people don't even realize how much they are struggling with horses, because their horse behaves about as poorly as all the rest, so they think that's just the way horses are. This marvelous lecture is for the rare horse person who is truly interested in horses.

What is the context of this video? Is Pat just fishing for compliments from Tom? Ask him to rope a cow with the carrot sticks in his hands.

Everything is great except I don’t care about his father being a champion, I want to feel like it’s an equal playing field with trainers. I want to see them training everyday horses. I know they do but it’s just annoying to me to point out how expensive and well bred the horse your training is. Of course he will be an awesome horse

Toby is beautiful loving horse. Just needs more training and to be ridden more often than just 'once a month'. Toby is smart too.

Steve and Toby are almost a perfect example of myself and my horse. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video and learning right along with Steve. I also have a horse that pushes into pressure and I am learning how to gain respect and set boundaries. Thank you so much Steve!!! My boarding barn applies much of the Parelli horse psychology and methods so this was a perfect video to compliment the training I’ve received thus far! I would also love to see how far Steve and Toby have advanced since this video 💜

Sadly, the lighting is so bad that I can't see any of his bridles. This the 1st video by him I've seen, and I get a good feeling from it, although I have heard that he, like all of the big male horsemen, is very arrogant. I will judge for myself though. If there are any videos on his training methods, I look forward to checking that out.

I learned so much from Pat... It is now 2023 and I am 76 years old... And have become incredibly great with horses due to Pat.. I ride about 2 hours a day 5 days a week give or take... I can never thank him enough for what he taught me.

I watched Pat get bucked off this boy when he first got him-we were at an advanced clinic-he was dragged when his foot got stuck in the stirrup, until he rolled over, face down on the dirt, and the boot came out. Right before lunch... This is the best I've seen him work with him...Wonder what Tom Dorrance had to say...

Interesting. Noble. One docs Prescription gelding. One quarantine out of QT for tho months. Perfect children’s hunytrrs or western youth discipline. She has her mare super sweep gait, friendly and sassy. Unsure of changes.

Hi, I was watching your video and just wanted to know if you had the horse you have been riding for very long because he looks like a horse I used to know.
