Hey! I’m looking into Yale, as a sophomore in high school. My biggest problem is the lack of extracurriculars in my 2,500 populated town 😅 I went thru lots of foster homes as a child, so I never got good education until around 5th grade, where I suddenly worked my way up to top 3% of the class. My extracurriculars are band and jazz band, and I’m in Beta. Do u have any recommendations on activities (I have anemia so I can’t do rigorous activities) and service projects?
In my school there isnt a student government. There are class captains. Each class has 60 students and among them 2 captains and 2 extra captains are elected. They dont do much other than helping maintain the class , bring food during lunch , help teachers collect money and so on. Is this worth mentioning in the application if i was one :v ?
What feels unfair is that people can't just connect very well. I'm not exactly introverted but I focus on school stuff and none of my main subject teachers share my interests enough to discuss them. I don't want to try forcing myself to talk to someone and get to know them because that feels artificial. I'm already halfway through my junior year and I have one, maybe 2-ish teachers in mind. I'm not sure if it's alright to send an extra supplemental letter from a private teacher of an activity that's outside of school. I think my private teacher knows my personality, work ethic, and high school development much better than my high school teachers. If you see this comment, do you know if that's allowed?
Great job on this video! I'm a YSD grad and loved that we go a shout out here. Especially for the Yale Cabaret! Every undergrad should check it out. It's truly an innovative and experimental underground theater as you said lol. There are also lots of performance opportunities through the Yale Schwarzman Center!
Anthony looked so good when he took off his shirt when he came home in 2020. He told me it was 2 years of work out. You seem to know how to safely work out. Thats so important! I don’t like too much muscle but a little is very attractive. My dad never went to gym but I see different men on RU-vid. I used to exercise. I am slowly getting back to doing anything. So happy here with my daughter.
😂watch your brother run. Yes, I tried running/ jogging many years ago and it was not for me. 😊 I used to do exercise tapes or try to walk at a certain pace for a distance.
Awesome! I’m finding this short at 3am central time! I am so happy for you. I am glad that you and Anthony have kept in touch . I have asked about you. 😊
Do you think it will be a disadvantage if I have two B's in freshmen year but all A's in my other years of high school? Also is there any extracurriculars that don't require much talking that I can do because I am a introverted person?
Hey man! I 100% feel you. I'm the oldest of six siblings and come from a first-generation low-income background - it's a daily grind, but it's possible! <3
My dream school is Yale, I'm just worried that my SAT score is too low. I'm planning on applying test-optional, but I'm scared that schools like Yale will reject me and choose someone with the same stats as me but who sent in their very high test scores... 😟
I got the College Prep Scholar award, and I really want to get into Yale but I feel like I'm just not good enough to apply. Do you have any suggestions on where to go from here? I'm going test optional and my grades are decent, but as the NCM deadline approaches I'm losing confidence.
ok so ik i’m 3yrs late but i’m an incoming freshman (yea ik i have a lot of time) and i have two really important questions!! 1. my school doesn’t allow freshman’s to take all honors classes (only ela and math and even then you have to test into them) but since the other classes won’t be as rigorous as others in their freshman yr would my chances go down? and 2. recently all you see are people creating non profits and getting in, do you *have* to do this/would it give you a boost? because ik you should only do things you’re passionate in but in every stats video they all mention starting a non profit and making over 100,000 dollars and at this point it feels like a requirement. (i plan on applying to all the ivies but my top two are yale and princeton)
I have a question, if im thinking of applying to Yale, what should i write in my essay? What do i say? How do i arrange my words or topics? How many words? Im so scared
Hey Arnold!! I have a simple question, do sports that aren't backed up by school count for my college application? Let me make this simpler, I go to a club in my town that isn't related in any way to my school, so if I join one of the sports there, like swimming, would that count as an extracurricular activity that's worth mentioning in my College application?? Also is playing the piano considered an extracurricular activity?
absolutely yes! moreover, club sports at high level( minimum state level) will be better than varsity, and anything can be an activity, u just need to show ur passion for it; try to achieve high levels on those.
oh my GOSH Arnold!!! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR TEACHING ME WHAT STUDENT BRAG SHEETS ARE!!! Definitely gonna use this advice in order to get into my dream school!!! THANKS!!!
