Addressing Gettysburg is the original Podcast about the Battle of Gettysburg, in Gettysburg PA. On this channel we will publish all of our shows, along with other original content concerning the History of the Town of Gettysburg, the Battle of Gettysburg, and the resulting tourism industry that rose since this small Pennsylvania town earned its place in history on July 1, 2, & 3 of 1863.
Always keep in mind, the Medal of Honor was the only medal awarded during the Civil War. And being mentioned in reports/dispatches the only other way to be recognized officially.
My family and I were just there thinking that Little Round Top was open, we were really looking forward to it,it wasn’t when we got there and the day we left it opened ,oof 😅 We are big Chamberlain fans especially my grandfather! Hopefully we come next year. 🙏🏻
The stories of the battle on LRT, the men who fought and those who didn't make it. The 20th Maine holding to the last measure, these and many other stories are why we keep coming back to pay our respects.
I was there end of last week so I just missed it. My secret is to visit later tour stops in the morning then visit first day stuff in the evening. Rarely see many people this way.
Thank you for doing this, in a time when the powers that be want to forget history or change it I am happy to see continuing work on such important issues in our country's history.
Glad that it has reopened. It really needed the rehabilitation. I worked at the Park as a Park Ranger for two seasons in the mid 70's and even then, it needed attention.
Thanks for posting this up, Matt and crew! Very well done video. Just missed this happening since I was at CWI a couple of weeks ago. This will make a great trip for next year's CWI. Again, well done!!
Rob is awesome. Also, I had to send a photo of the Dan Sickles leg bone wayside to Jim Hessler commenting, “Sickles made it to Little Round Top. While I was visiting yesterday I saw Mike Rupert taking a Couple up there. There was an inordinate amount of Mikes up there yesterday.
Glad it’s back open, being from Florida my wife and I went to visit a week after it closed. We enjoyed the Military Park, but were a little disappointed. We need to schedule a second trip!
It's the majestic magnitude of wondering why the battle was held at this spot that is drawn to such beauty that can at the same time hold so much blood and the evilness of war.
@@addressinggettysburg I know. However, I’ve seen other videos of more of the work. Please remember the Empire State building was built in 13 months.lol
Great news. Excellent work by Matt and crew to get this to us so quickly. We in the trademaked Gettysnerd community are fortunate to have access to the hallowed ground of Little Round Top through this video. Hoping we all get there soon.
It’s a combination of all the stories involved on LRT, Warren & Chamberlain & Oates & Vincent & O’Rorke and the view you see standing on top looking down on the valley and Devils Den. Really puts you into imagining what it must have been like, same as standing at the VA monument and looking over the field of Pickett’s Charge.
Thanks for covering this and presenting it to us Looks all fancied up now. My first recollection of LRT was visitung the battlefield when I was age six. That was in the 1960s. My fave area then and through the years since. Will be interesting to see how LRT feels now when visting this September.
What they showed looked great. I've been there to Gettysburg 33 times from 12 years old in 1986 to filming Gettysburg as a background artist in September of 1992 til my last visit with my wife and kids in 2019. Evey visit winds up on Little Round Top, taking in the breathtaking views and soaking in the history of what those men did from both armies to win the battle. I can't wait for the new experience of seeing that part of the battlefield of Gettysburg soon!
@@johnstrong283 Right there with you pal. fell in love with Gettysburg bout the same time as you.. I can’t tell you the number of family and friends I have introduced and guided them thru the three days of battle. (No, I’m Not a guide). Looking so forward to getting back up to Little Round Top and watching the sun set over south mountains. 👍
