You are absolutely right. I did a transport job at one point in my life and it is exactly like you say. Of course, the company I did that for, looked for loads from point A-B and although we were a genuine considerate shipper I seen many weekend warriors pop into the business chasing what they think is thousands of dollars until they see they are running for very little compensation because of the competition. I saw "companies" pop up for a few months then disappear then new ones take their place. And the cycle continues. I worked for one such company. Eventually the distances I was travelling just to connect loads back to home base and the costs, etc. the company was shelling out eventually my boss said he had to shut it down. I loved that job too. But shipping in the auto sector sure is a rough scrabble business. Not many make it.
Ngl if u quoted me 500 for the car ship then came back n said oh its gonna be 580 or we're gonna drop ur car off in the middle of nowhere, i would never use ur service ever again n give u zero stars. Try giving accurate quotes n do not exceed it. If u are constantly exceeding ur quoted then thats bad business n u need to start charging more.
I shipped a pickup truck from FL to PA, the broker raised the price $500 before pickup. Then the driver tried to get another $500 out of me to unload it. I told him no way and to take the truck back, I'll report it stolen (which it technically would have been). He whined and moaned but unloaded the truck. Before that, I had a brand new truck delivered to me, also from Florida. Thing was dirty as hell so I didn't notice the dents and scratched on the roof, from what appeared to be lowering the carrier on it. Everything is a scam. I was SOL because I signed the bill of laden. What's the moral of the story? Never sign the bill of laden.

You know, I just quit working for a company because they were lying and saying they were dispatched and then I had to sit there and fend off calls all day every day because they were not dispatched. We had no drivers for them the price she posted for the drivers to see was three times what we quoted the person and she got a huge deposit already. Now what I have to go back for more money? She is in Disney World left me to run the whole show for a week I nearly lost my mind. Lying to people is not my forte. I do not enjoy it, and I Donely do I have to go back for more money, I have to down sell the driver who saw a ridiculous price. I would even buy my own leads if I can find a company that just let me work from home and build those lifelong clients, which I love so much because I'm still a bartender at heart. Lost two good dealerships that I was just working on to build trust with me and then I had to let them down because I was out. I did give them your information from another video. I hope they got with you but I do enjoy the semi cold calling in the industry, it's just so nerve-racking that I enjoy it just like bartending on a slammed night. lol thank you for being you and all that you do my brother I enjoy the honesty.

@@AutoTransportForDummies I hope this response is showing. I never thought people read this stuff and I never write. Well it’s not much but a 2016 Chevy Express. Runs and drives well for almost 300,000 (compliments of Uncle Sam). I just know it’s in Birmingham in two days. From there to Pasadena, Ca. Moreover, if I can be helped I am prepared to show my appreciation by asking a friend to drive me some ways. Not that I expected nor am I entitled to front door delivery. I have saved up $739 since December 2023. This is just a setback for now. But with my van I could work deliveries. So it’s not about having a vehicle, but survival via employment. Not being on the system. Again, not sure how RU-vid works, who can read or see this. It’s a little humbling to do this. But was scanned twice on the internet in the last month. Once trying to buy a $100 camera to tell my story in RU-vid. Then ran off with a Zelle payment. Then two weeks ago $200 medication, by a “Discrete Shipping” PayPal scan. All very well document by case number, AG and District Attorney, police etc. their response: “sorry for your loss.” I would have had over $1000 now, or the scammed items. But ended up empty handed again. Duped always it seems. The world moves faster than I, obviously. Yes too much information, but it hurts to lose and not with a way to earn enough. But whoever the msn was in the video, I was fixed on him and could tell he himself was fed up with the current state of our society. Nevertheless I remain hopeful and patriotic. If I can’t catch a break here at home among each other, then where. Look, I still don’t have my van but feel better as if some citizen might listen. Truck drivers have feelings too. Ok let me try again:) 2016 Chevrolet express in Birmingham, AL to Pasadena, CA or near by (ie) Nevada or Arizona. I am not mobile with the vehicle. I am out of work for two years. I don’t want to be a lazy bum and rather work. I was scammed on Craigslist with a “Zelle” scam when I attempted to buy a camera to tell this vehicle story. Then scammed only a few days ago again online for a few hundred by a PayPal “discreet package” scam trying to buy my medication. Losing money like this hurts. I get $200/month called GR. So been saving to move this vehicle but keep losing money. I saw the gentleman on this video and he seems to be honest, patriotic and fed up with consumers getting fleeced. I responded immediately with this information but wasn’t sure where it went or was sent. It’s kinda embarrassing to put my needy self out there and offered all my documentation for verification if someone can help my situation. I guess my only hope is with the man in the video. I did send an email direct to airryd this morning. But very puzzled why I cannot see the second reply.
The other factor is that most of those cars still have manual transmissions. You try to pull the seat up, and you have that wide steering wheel to contend with, which can limit how close you can't get to the pedals while hanging out the window.
Up until I quit a little over a week ago. I was passing out your videos to potential clients to help them understand. I had worked for this company before but this time I was only working for them again for a month, and they were just taking these large deposits, and actually going to Disney World. I realized what was happening when I was left in the office alone having to fend off these calls as gently as I could to clients that had no drivers actually coming, but their deposit was taken.. I was having a problem being honest in a shark infested industry as it is, but I know it turns around and I build this funnel that just never stops.. And when your dispatch/owner is the cone being dishonest, taking the deposits, there’s nothing you can do. I got some of my clients out there and I just recommended you guys to two of my clients. And I recommended they watch your videos as well. But thank you for this I needed someone to recommend and you’re being honest about it just like I was, everybody else which was only a four-man show over there was lying and it was so disturbing. I would have my clients when they were potential clients watch your videos so they know what to look out for , when my dispatcher got a hold of some of my clients, they bailed out. Good for them !! I told them the same information that you were telling people on what to watch out for, and she pulled it on them and they took off. Some of them not even speaking to me ever again and that hurts a bit because my word is my word, and these people didn’t seem to understand that my word matters whether I’m going to ever meet these people or speak to them again, my word matters to me. When I worked for them years ago when they were a lot more honest, I had a bunch of reviews on the Better Business Bureau stating don’t talk to the dispatcher only talk to Kevin.. Because some of my clients knew that I fight for them when she was trying to get an extra $150 out of them she would even stoop to begging for an extra $50 like a crazy person. But trying to get rich off of one client as I would tell her is wrong on every level and then to do it without them actually being dispatched!?! I was infuriated when I walked out of there., it was unacceptable behavior, and they need to be shut down for what they’re doing, and it even gets worse. Took me a couple weeks to really catch onto it and the day they left me in the office alone holy hell! That’s when I figured out everything. But If you explain things to people honestly yes some will still leave, but most will not or they will come back and you have a client for life like I used to have when I worked for them years ago. For four years people were still calling me when I was out of the industry asking if I was getting back into it.. Heck one guy offered to help me by paying for everything I needed to start the business myself so that he could ship 30 to 50 cars a month through me at a lower rate for a certain amount of time and then he said charge him full price.. I didn’t take him up on that. It wasn’t what I was looking for at that time in life. Stupid move, but it is what it is. Thank you so much for informing people. God bless you.
I have been refused the carrier name unless I paid $...but oh hey we have a carrier for you. I'm pretty good at mc/usdot/FMCSA searches and if I can't vet when you tell me you have a carrier then what the heck. vetting a broker is nothing compared to the transport co.
AirRyd gave me a cheap quote just to lock me in, fake cash flow, not exactly sure but they surely had no real intention to ship my car. Wes is tired I guess, because his sun disposition is gone.
Control freaks? They're called customers. You have a lot to learn about customer service. I had a job once that I didn't like; I quit that job in 1995. Had a 25 year career after that working in a field I enjoyed. What Im trying to stay, If you don't like your career choice, don't blame the customers.
