The color is very pretty. That's so nice that your dad is coming to help you. My dad did several projects around my house: pull-out trays for lower kitchen cabinets, pantry between the wall studs (best project ever), cat door through concrete block from the house to the screened porch, and several garage organization things. Sadly, he's been gone for 8 years now. Cherish your time together. I wish I had.
I've been enjoying this series. Yes, you should be proud! It's looking great. A suggestion for the printer: can you add a full-extension pull-out tray?
Thank you for watching! I’ve thought about that and may see if I can install one once I get doors on. It may narrow the space juuuust enough that the printer wouldn’t fit, so we’ll see. If not we’ll pivot!☺️
Great strategies for conquering Brimfield and good self-control! I have been looking for a place to take a pottery class. Can you share a link of where these classes are? I live in Mass. You look like pro on that wheel! After you finish your office you will need an art studio 😂 Your garden looks fantastic! Ironically I had a super early harvest on everything and things were fizzled, powdered or completely eaten by my cute little bunny friend by the end of august. I wished I had more things ready to go but I procrastinated terribly. BIG lesson learned. Give yourself grace…..gardening IS hard work but so rewarding. Your gardens are just gorgeous!
Thank you! It’s definitely hard to leave empty handed but still a blast to peruse ☺️ The classes I am taking are located in Groton, MA at Old School Clay and Ceramics. The teacher is wonderful! All things considered I’m very happy with the garden progress despite the battles with pests and such. At the very least things are green and that’s more than I could hope for 😂 Thanks for watching!
Hope this helps -- the back cushions should be unpacked and then left uncovered for around 2 days -- they lose the indentations from being squashed in the packing boxes.
Nice job on desk, caulk will work, you have some skills , have you got a router with rounder bit possibly 1/4"? cut a long strip and route one side make roundover molding it will elevate the project. Thanks for Sharing...
Greetings Grace. I see that you doing a marvelous and terrific job of being a great engineer on designing and building things around the premises.😊👍💯 🥇
Hi, many thanks for you video. Your home is just adorable, lovely and cozy. You must put a lot of love and work on it. I have a question about the sofa. Could you tell me if the ikea measurement of its width including the armrests. It seems a bit confusing to me. The overall width is 262cm or 262 plus the armrests, so goes to 284cm? I’d really appreciate if you could send me your actual measurements of the width including armrests. Many thanks, looking forward to see you other videos.
some constructive feedback: double time anytime you aren't speaking. and 1.25 times speed when you are. Also, no one cares about your arrands except your mom and creepers. or your meal prep. at least put it in a separate video if you really want to share it.
some constructive feedback on giving constructive feedback - saying things like "no one cares" can be quite hurtful, even if the message is true. Constructive feedback should aim to help the person receiving the feedback improve without feeling like they are being insulted. For that scenario, saying something like "For a youtube video titled as a DIY building video, your personal errands and meal prep information is off topic, so you may consider either titling the video more obviously as a blog, or moving that content to a separate video to keep build videos more relevant" would be more helpful to the receiver of the feedback.
Also, consider that this channel produces lifestyle content, which isn't exactly what it seems like you're asking for. If you want more general DIY or woodworking videos, there's thousands of them on this platform.
I'm so glad this was helpful! Both sofas have a really beautiful aesthetic. I don't think you can go wrong! There are some companies that sell custom covers (Bemz, Comfortly, Comfort Works), so if you weren't loving the fabric feel, you could purchase another separately!
I usually wear a size 8-8.5 shoe depending on brand and I bought a size 8. I did measure my foot to check their size chart before purchasing because after size 8 they only offer whole sizes. Link to the knit tank: bit.ly/4blkvyX I bought it at the outlet in NH!
This was a great vlog! Love the variety and the detailed info and links you shared. We all have indoor and outdoor “stuff” to get done. Have you ever tried making ice cream? It would make those sandwiches even yummier and is super easy! Do you mind sharing what app you used for your drawing? Would love to see more of that process as you go along. I am doing a similar project.
I haven't made ice cream in a very long time, but I might have to give that a try next time. I also realized it may be helpful to form the ice cream into a cylinder, freeze it, then slice it like cookie dough to out between the cookies. Lesson learned! I use the Procreate app on my iPad for sketching: apple.co/3VH06P2 Looking forward to sharing project progress! :)
Great question - I forgot to mention! My best guess is the bagged composts I put in the raised beds. At this time, I have not seen signs of or been able to extract jumping worms from any of our other flower or vegetable gardens, so it must be something I put in the beds and nowhere else. Unfortunately, even bagged items can get contaminated when sitting on the ground at garden centers. Now, I know to solarize bags before use (ag.umass.edu/landscape/fact-sheets/invasive-jumping-worm-frequently-asked-questions#:~:text=what%20is%20solarization%20and%20is%20it%20effective%20for%20eradicating%20jumping%20worms%20and%20cocoons%3F%20how%20does%20it%20work%3F) but there is no guarantee! 😕
I have used Coast of Maine lobster compost, but I’ve also incorporated several other amendments so it’s hard to identify the culprit exactly! The cocoons could have just been sitting in the bulk soil we used to fill the beds last spring and just now hatched 🤷🏼♀️
Assuming you live in New England… fellow new englander and Red Sox fan. I love how you and Matt are sharing your adventure and showing how teamwork makes the dream work! Great video. Looking forward to watching you grow your channel.
New Englanders, indeed! Thank you for the kind words. We really appreciate that and are so glad you’re here 💛 Not all projects are smooth sailing, but we learn and laugh along the way, together!
We love our Vimle for everyday use. It’s super comfy and modern in style. I think the Hyltarp is great for a sitting room or small space if you’re going for a more polished look. It’s more firm, too. We love both for different reasons!
Hi, thanks for thr video. I was wondering if you have an update, is it still firm? I tried Hyltarp in the store and it was super soft, I really liked it but I later saw some comments the new ones are rock hard.
It's still pretty firm with the exception of the spots I sit in regularly. That said, it's not our everyday couch - if it was it would probably break in and soften a lot faster. If you like a squishy sofa, this may not be the best option! I just posted a 4-month review if you'd like to take a look: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Dg7dK5OsY80.html
It's holding up very well and we really enjoy it. It is on the firmer side, so if you prefer squishy sofas, this may not be for you. The firmness helps keep the shape of the couch so it doesn't look slouchy/worn. I was very set on a certain look and this sofa helped me achieve that for a more affordable price. I just posted a 4-month review of the sofa today if you want to check it out! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Dg7dK5OsY80.html

Great question! Peat moss (often listed as "sphagnum peat moss") is a decomposed organic matter harvested from peat bogs. It retains water very well, is sterile and has a spongey texture that doesn't compact which is why it is such a desirable growing medium. However, peat moss is effectively a non-renewable resource because it takes thousands of years to form. I'm always looking for more ways to be sustainable, so if I can get my hands on something peat-free, that would be my choice. One popular alternative is coconut coir, so I'm hoping to experiment with that this coming year! I kept vacillating between the Uppland and Hyltarp sofa. After much review reading and Google searching on both I came across your video. It helped seal the deal on my choice and I purchased the Hyltarp. (I really wanted the chaise but don’t have the space). I bought the regular sofa and had it delivered, so no lugging boxes. It helped to see the size of the boxes and parts in your video to know what to anticipate. I was able to easily assemble it myself (as a middle aged woman) and very happy with the results. Looking forward to naps on the couch 🛋️ 😁
Hi! Was the sofa hard to assemble? I am debating between paying for Ikea to assemble it and doing it myself. I was very encouraged to see a woman assemble it and thought i could maybe do it myself. Great video
Hello! Great question! Some of the pieces are on the larger/heavier side. I did have help getting them in the house. If you feel comfortable, and have the ability to shuffle the big boxes around (I kind of shimmied them into place), you can absolutely do it! It did take me a few hours, but I just popped on some music and took my time so I didn’t overdo it (and followed the instructions correctly!) IKEA instructions include simple diagrams only (no text), so if you haven’t assembled IKEA furniture before it takes a minute to understand the instructions. Once you get the hang of them, they’re very easy to follow! Keeping those things in mind, I think anyone can build this sofa! 💪🏼☺️ Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
Hello! I Have the color "Gransel natural" which is a soft off-white with a subtle variated color in the texture of the fabric. It's much like a linen fabric!
Hi! I did not have any issues with mine - be sure you are installing the hardware into the correct holes. There are several holes that aren't used for assembly (depending on whether or not you have the chaise). I hope this helps!
Hello, I have finished building it. Gosh it is rock hard but advertsied as Extra Soft? Has yours softened since you bought it? We sat on one in store and it was so lovely and soft! We also went for the same colour as you. It looks beautiful but my god its not comfortable :(@@ThePlaceWithGrace
Ours is also on the firmer side despite being advertised as extra soft. In my experience with IKEA sofas, they do break in. We have had our other sectional (VIMLE) for over 5 years and it's much softer than when we originally bought it. We prefer firmer so when they break in they still have support and don't lose shape!

Hello, thanks for sharing your beautiful home. Really enjoyed this video. I am thinking of buying the same sofa in the same colour. Would you say it’s a warm colour or cool? Also, same question as below, has it softened out a bit over time? Thank you 😊
I would describe this as more of a warm off-white color! It hasn't softened much yet, but it's not our every day sofa and we have only had it for a few months. Breaking in usually takes time and regular use!
