Except for the return to the more child friendly formula, this is one of the best Gamera movies. Gaos is an interesting Kaiju design. The plot moves fairly fast and is fairly action packed. Gaos does actually reappear in a later film, Gamera vs Guirion. It's interesting to see the strength difference in Guirion and Gaos
I still can’t get over the fact that those warships were entirely CGI (with the exception of that small bit of the boat deck) that really surprised me watching the making of reel
@@TokuCentral_Official They've got some absolutely wicked looking box sets that include both versions set for release in Japan, hopefully it will be released everywhere soon! 😓
It would be awesome if they ever made a cgi nature documentary of them eating, mating, taking care of their young instead of fighting each other all the time.
This "black and white" version was phenomenal to watch! It was also the 4th time to see this film. It reminded me of when I was a kid, over 50 years ago, and seeing the Godzilla films on TV.
Definitely had a feel similar to that of the original Gojira. Comparing this and the color version, they definitely feel like two totally different movies
@@TokuCentral_OfficialI just started collecting Arrow Video Blu rays. They are amazingly well made, lots of special features and the video/sound quality is excellent. I own 33 different Godzilla movies, 6 different King Kong movies, original Mothra and remake Mothra I and Mothra II. I had never seen Gamera but I got the full Gamera movies set from Arrow. After watching the first 4, already hooked. Great movies!!
Aside from Cate, May, and Ken. I thought the show was pretty good. It's interesting to see the backstory of Monarch. Godzilla was cool, too. Didn't like the main trio. Thought they were too whiny. May and Cate, in particular, they just treated everyone like assholes. Liked the other characters, though.
I thought it was neat to see Godzilla before the Castle Bravo explosion, especially since we only saw snippets of him in the beginning of G 2014. I will agree on May and Cate. Reminded me a bit of Aaron Johnson's role in 2014.
Wasn't the biggest fan of May myself. Obviously Randa, Keiko and Shaw were the highlights but I didn't necessarily mind Kentaro or Cate. I do wish we had gotten more Goji but the moments we did get were memorable and he looked damn good to say the least
Godzilla-palooza the marathon All my favorite Godzilla movies I like Godzilla 2000 It going to be another godzilla on the 2024 Godzilla x kong the new empire Have you watch the first movie On December 2023 godzilla minus one?
Saw it again for the second time today and honestly yeah, it really IS the best godzilla film we've gotten in years. I dare to say it beats shin for me by a mile lol.
I liked Shin, don’t get me wrong, but the pacing and approach to the big G in this film is far superior. Seriously hoping they consider doing a sequel.
Saw G-1 in Hiroshima November 7th it is the best Godzilla movie ever made ....to bad the US just ruins the Godzilla every time they touch it!!! Take the new 2024 Godzilla with King kong BS.....Japan make a masterpiece and the US responds with absolute GARBAGE
Personally I don’t have a problem with what Legendary does with the Monsterverse. It’s a different take on the character. I’ll always prefer Toho’s portrayal of Godzilla but the Monsterverse has managed to finally portray Godzilla in a quality style
I am 53 years old. Since my 5 I have enjoying this fantastic caracter along Ultra 7. THe best 3 of all ultra family: UltraMan Jack (returns) 1971, UltraMan 1966 and UltraSeven 1967. Thanks for all the guys from TSUBURAYA Co.
Nah, the Bandai America MG is pretty on-point to how Godzilla and MechaGodzilla scaled in 1974. They were both 50 meters in the movie, and there are even plenty of shots that show G and MG standing at equal height. It was in _Terror of MechaGodzilla_ where the MG suit was beefed up in size to be taller than Godzilla, even tho, again, canonically, MechaGodzilla 2 is still 50 meters in height. Good review nonetheless, tho.
Looking at the ending, once Godzilla turns into a magnet, MG still seems taller than him. Possible that Godzilla was hunched over a bit but it appears that when he tries to take off, they’re standing on the same level ground
I can't wait to see it, but now I have to wait until June 23, 2023. Then it will available to buy. So disappointed that I missed it. But I can not wait.
This movie was a fantastic experience, still like godzilla against mechagodzilla more but I enjoy this one on it's own too. Hopefully they celebrate the 20th anniversary of final wars next year
Saw it yesterday with my dad and yeah, It was a great experience! Honestly I'm hoping fanthom will show final wars next because I feel like they've been doing these events in order.
This is such a great looking figure, and it pains me how hard to find it is for a good price. Since this year marks Megalon's 50th anniversary, hopefully we might finally get G'73 in the Movie Monster series (not G'74/75, but close enough for the time being. Might get the real deal in 2024 and 2025, though).
Here’s hoping! I doubt they’ll just reuse the sculpt if they rerelease ‘74 or ‘75. Seems like when they’ve been redoing kaiju they’ve done in the past, there’s usually a change to the sculpt as of late
Took me the better part of 13 years to find one for a price I liked and in good condition. They’re out there it’s just a matter of how salty is the price. I’d say he’s due for a reissue!
I enjoyed it a lot. I thought the first half went by fast, but then it slowed to a nice, steady face for the 2nd half. The final battle was not what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it. They did a good job paying tribute to the classic series, while also giving it a modern, clever update.
I enjoyed it, I would have liked the dub version more I think than Sub version, as it was to fast paced to read the lines and watch the action. I also missed alot of the original things of Orig series...(Grunts by Ultraman) the SSSP's Equipment such as guns/planes & a HQ rather than a tent or Office..I'd really like to see it fine tuned and would welcome a trilogy!!
As a new comer to Ultraman, I freaking love it. To me personally Shin Godzilla is a Godzilla masterpiece. This Shin Ultraman has made me a fan now. I don’t know if I’ll watch other Ultraman but I’m excited for Shin Ultraman universe. Now the wait for my most anticipated film of 2023, Shin Kamen Rider. I didn’t mind the cgi, loved every bit of it. Some people say they copied scenes from the early shows but to me as a new comer it was nice to see. You just can’t cater to old fans, you have to think about new comers too and that’s why Hideaki Anno and Shinji are perfect for this Shin universe.
Classic Ultraman is serious in sense, but due to it's target audience is kids to adult, the tone is much more lighter. Shin Ultraman kept the joke, but delivered the message effectively. Shin Ultraman is the definition how classic to modern adaptation done right. While they omitted the first monster that Ultraman fought, but the electric kaiju scene is much more memorable.
I loved it! Honestly my favorite toku/kaiju flick to come out of the modern kaiju renaissance. It's definitely gonna have some people mixes about it but overall I love the changes they did in the film.
Some of the changes really threw me for a loop, but I enjoyed them nonetheless. Top tier film and I’m definitely looking forward to the proposed trilogy they have planned!
