I was on the aroura lift when the first lightning strike hit and it scared the shit out of me. It was like I got flashbanged and you could hear the thunder ripping through the air across the mountain. I originally thought it could of been an electrical fire/explosion from the asshole smoking under a tower on the lift but I heard the thunder and said “get me the fuck off this lift”
I had the same experience on North Peak a few weeks ago(I know shocking it has happened twice in one season) but funny you should say that I was also in Aurora on Northern Lights heading to Jordan right as this was taken!
I don’t have a mount I just hold it normally. Press record at the base then throw on my gloves and hold my phone in my gloves. It drains the battery of my phone but I normally carry a block.
I swear, chairlifts in general always look they're operating faster when filmed on a phone. Its very deceiving to be honest, especially with your choice of wide-angle lens from your device. I think multiple videos of the same object are really interesting, and great for comparing & contrasting to see what looks the best. Great job Cody!
Thank you! I have been toying with buying a GoPro for years, but I instead decided to invest in a home snow gun. I just use my phone, in .5 as you noted, and it does make lifts appear to go very fast especially the bubbles for whatever reason. I haven’t seen you at North Peak this year… are you working it this year?
This was actually one of the last Omega lifts that Leitner-Poma has ever built as it was built in 2010, and in that same year, they built their first ever LPA terminals and grips on the Hign Noon Express at Vail, and the LPA terminals and grips were the only detachable terminals and grips used ever since, as the Omega terminal and grip were phased out the following year.
This is such a weird chair. It was built when Leitner and Poma were looking for a new design, so they just used wooden panels on the Omega and changed some other aspects of it
1:26 I think it's a common thing on bottom drive lifts to have depression towers like this where the downhill line has more sheaves than the uphill line. I've seen this on towers 3 and 4 of the Kensho SuperChair as well.
I have an ikon pass because I live in the East and it is far superior for the East coast but regardless I prefer to support Altera and Boyne over Vail.
I wish every gondola was a chondola. You have cabins for all the sissy tourists, and the real skiers don't have to remove their skis in order to lap the terrain.
@@NortheasternP.T.S. I’m planning to spend a lot of time at Sugarloaf in March. Rumor on the mountain this weekend was that they are making snow starting today on those trails. That rumor is true, so I expect it to be open by the next time I head up and I will record it along with the shortened West Mountain.
The snow was decent for early season for sure. It was nice to have 2 different lifts and many trails to spread out crowds. The snowpack got deeper with elevation as to be expected. Not too much snow yet, but things are looking good. Sunday River seemed very busy and not too great conditions wise from what I’ve heard.
