Lovely to see you process, Lin - thank you for sharing. The artgraf graphite looks very interesting - I've seen someone playing with their graphite in a tin before now (not coloured), but I really like the 'tailor's chalk' style shape of those ones you had. I lovedhow the charcoal blended so nicely into the wet media as soon as you added it - very satisfying!
@lincheungart
@lincheungart 9 месяцев назад
Safia, the Artgraf graphite is lovely, they don't come in many colours, but as you can see in the vid, when you add water it's very rich. the graphite is also lovely and silky and the shape is great.

I needed this! Especially when i want to scream because my work is feeling.... weird. The question that i do have is how do i change the weird into a series? What mean is, whatever i am feeling making artwork i want to be able to make it into 3's so it feels like a 'statement' and not just a lone wolf, if i am making sense. How do i keep the feeling (whatever it is) so it makes a cohesive sense? Thanks for your post!
@lincheungart
@lincheungart 10 месяцев назад
I think keep persevering. Sometimes journaling, writing down the feeling, the intention, the energy, colours, marks, intention. Also work will develop and move on too!

Extremely useful and interesting to watch - thank you. I'm not sure why I'd not considered mixing complementaries when playing this way or at least not in a deliberate sense. "Notice what you're noticing" and then "honour that noticing" - these are so true and things I have only just come to realise. I had a revelation just a month or so ago of realising what I was noticing and now I have ideas that I'm now wondering how to express. I am sitting with it - and it was so reassuring to hear you both discuss how sometimes that is a necessary part of the process: to just take your time and allow things to cogitate for a while and not push or rush things. Just play, explore and allow the art to show itself in its own sweet time. Such an interesting discussion - thank you so much for sharing

Thank you for this. it has really helped. I remember painting at school, an abstract with black lines and filling in with colours, (very 60s), the teacher told me I would come unstuck, meaning I would end up with two colours together probably. Number 1 question to myself! Second question when I said I'd like to be a dress designer, my Dad saying its not just drawing pictures, but knowing about darts etc. My 12 year old self thinking oh I don't know how to do that! After a career in accountancy at the age of 51 I did a foundation art course, hooked I went on to gain 1st BA Hons and started a MA, which wasn't' taking me where I wanted to go. Anyway, 8 years later still trying to find my voice and still get paralyzed when I think of making art, those two things must really be playing on my mind, crazy! Your work has inspired me to get back and start whatever the outcome, so thank you x
