G'day guys, my name is Chris aka iRidetas! I'm obsessed with motorcycles and my home state of Tasmania, Australia.
I make motorcycle content on RU-vid and Instagram. I aim to inspire the average motorcycle owner, so that they can build their own custom bike, in their driveway with basic tools and mechanical knowledge, transforming cheap entry level bikes such as the XV750, XV250, Royal Enfield Classic 500 or the XVS650, into something unique, fun and at times significantly better than factory! I then test ride these machines on the backroads of the beautiful, island of Tasmania.
If you enjoy my videos, have learnt something or have saved some money by doing it yourself and want to help by buying me a coffee, putting fuel in my tank, tread on my tyres & power in my gopro batteries please become a channel member, an iRider, by joining the channel.
iRidetas videos each Saturday at 7:00AM on the iRidetas channel ru-vid.com follow me on instagram.com/iridetas ☕😀👍
Its been a long time mate sorry, and its tucked up in the bike that im away from as im away for work, pretty sure its power and normal functionality from memory.
I’ve been trying to find a video on fuel filter change out for a 250 can’t find one and haven’t been able to locate it on my bike looks like it might have been taken out where should I install the new one I bought
Its been a while since ive had this bike but it doesnt from memory have a fuel filter it has a petcock screen. Simple case to put a fuel filter in the fuel line if you want to.
Hello...from Woodstock, NY! I have had Harleys, Triumphs, Bmw's,Kawasaki, xs650's, Intruders, Kz 450 and a 1979 Kz1000ST...ST for shaft. This Ironhead is my 23rd build and tge last Harley I will do! I don't need a 1,000, 1200, 1600, 1800 or 2,000cc bike..it's becoming ridiculous! I am going the opposite, Want to get a vstar 650, make it a bobber and ride. I do not care where it was built....it all comes from humans on Earth the last I knew! So, I short, ride what you want, when you want and that is Freedom, not what some club wNts me to ride! The vstar 650 is plenty of bike and will last a lifetime! A air-cooled vtwin shaft drive that you don't need a second mortgage for...they are great!
Great video , lots of information throughout 👍 wanted to to know if you experienced lots of noise or vibrations going over 120 kmph or about 4800 rpm on 5th gear ? Current setup : cobra slip ons , stock pilot jet , 130 main jet , pod kit air filters , 3.5 turns out. Im not happy with the performance on warm days and im switching to K&N clamp on as Im hoping it will breathe cooler. Im using your other video and setup when i switch from pods to the k&n
Love the mod 🤌🏻….. I have been looking for a good quality seat as well. If you could please share the link of this particular seat. There are lot of seats on ebay which i dont trust would be the same as this one.
No idea mate, never really been overly concerned with the finer points of the law and bikes! and im in a completely different state so youll need to do your own research
Even though its been 6yrs, I want to say THANK YOU! I recently bought my first motorcycle, being a 98 Virago 250, and this is basically the ONLY video that actually shows the idle adjustment, not just referencing it (if at all). And your explanation was so easy to follow, I was able to adjust my own without too much trouble and get it going. I've been struggling for days, despite tons of Google, RU-vid, and Reddit, and your video got me adjusting and riding in minutes. I knew what to listen for and what to adjust, how to turn, and you go straight from point A to B while providing simple to understand explanations and tips. Seriously, you not only showed what to do but gave a simple explanation on the why behind it all and riding afterwards gave a great example of good sound and performance, what you might experience if off and advice on how to fix ( or if too rich which mine was doing). All great for someone like me with all experience gained being this summer with this new to me motorcycle. I am extremely thankful for this video, thank you so much.
Thank you mate, glad the video helped 7 years on and really appreciate your kind words and the fact it played a small part in getting it running. Cheers
If its not responding to air fuel screw can mean to rich or lean. Which is weird since idle is 20 which isnt to much iff you have intake and exhaust mods. It is very sensitive so go in 1/8th turn increments.
Nice ! I just bought a 2009 Candy Apple Red XVS1100A with Vance Hines pipes and I put heated handlebar grips and quadlock. Loving the long trips. I used to enjoy my XVS650 for the Sydney commute but the 1100 is definitely more fun on the open road now.
They have conciderable more punch than the 650 but i still like my 650 too, its lighter and more nimble but as you said not as good as the 1100 on the highway. Enjoy mate!
I have been watching your videos of the Yamaha virago 250cc and I have to say that this bike is so well tuned almost to perfection, just listening her beautiful sound tells me that you are a very good mechanic. Keep it up, God bless, and be safe
Not a massive difference in top speed its more at what rpm it cruises at therefore how comfy the bike is to ride. The taller gearing makes it feel like a much more adult bike but it doesnt make it quicker. Its only a 250 its limited by power and torque
great vid thx , question the parking light in the led headlight has just one cable and the ones in the bike has two , how did you connected tem , where the ground goes ? thx a lot mate
Hey when I changed out my handlebars I somehow messed up the start button do you have any idea where the issue might be (it doesnt start the bike at all)
May be a short between the button and the metal bars, or a short or broken wire on kill switch or start button, is the clutch switch plugged in, shorted or broken wire, blown main fuse would be where i would start
I think you should only recommend the NGK BPR6EIX plug only if you also go with the NGK LZFH NON-resistor boot, since having a stock resistor boot with a resistor plug (BPR6EIX IS A RESISTOR PLUG) is a bad combo.
Sick! I’ve learned so much from your videos working on my first bike (virago 750 as well) So you were able to reach this new bar height with the original cable lengths and lowered risers?
Hello from north east scotland, have a 2001 sv650s in blue, standard with a scorpion end can,had the bike 20 years with no problems at all Great bikes CHEERS FROM BONNIE SCOTLAND
thanks for the vids, im curious how these air filter mods on both sides hold up to the wind? seems like without the extra anchor points like on the original pod filter boxes the new ones may catch alot of wind and get beat up? my virago 750 is my first bike so i baby the heck out of it
I’m in Colorado with my virago and there is no smaller hose for the mini breather on the right side and I can’t for the life of me tell where that one would even be coming from 😂 got the k&n on though and it looks f’ing sweet! Way smaller than the bug eye pod can’t wait to get the left side done
Why doesn't everyone just leave those mufflers alone?! You just gotta buy that ebay junk and usually upset the neighborhood. The ideal Noise/Performance envelope of a modern bike muffler comes from the factory, NOT in your backyard. More and more people, AND local authorities are imposing noise ordinances, and bikers are wondering why. Keeping it stock is ALWAYS cheaper than home wrenching with substandard and often illegal parts. Dude says so in his opening graphic: "Mods are not necessarily legal or safe." There is nothing manly, macho or powerful about making noise. These are ploys to draw attention to themselves. Points to a lack of self confidence, a need to impose one’s presence on others. Lack of self-esteem, hiding behind an over-blown ego. No real achievement to show, hence taking the easy way of making noise. Complete lack of consideration about other people’s personal spaces and privacy. People with loud exhaust system - this is how I and so many people see you. Yes, I ride too, but I don't RILE my fellow humans with unnecessary exhaust noise.
Would you like to speak to the manager Karen!!! Why write 5 page comment rant on youtube mate to people who dont care about your opinion and are obviously into bike modification, on a channel about bike modification!?!? Looks good, sounds good, stock sucks, period!
I didn’t install a new exhaust on my bike because it’s “manly” or “macho”, I did it because it is a significant performance upgrade and LIGHTER…significantly lighter. I decided to do it when I scraped the side of the bottom of the stock exhaust on the pavement. It’s also more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It is a bit louder, but not enough to piss anyone off. Why are you even here dude?
@aloisius4188 ideal performance does not come from factory exhausts lol, they're normally ugly stock cans designed to pass emissions (which is often still considerably lower than a cars once removed). Loud pipes save lives
Hey man, I love this build. I'm currently building my own custom xvs650. I've had the bike for about 6 years now, and I know it inside and out, but i am ready to start down the custom road with her. Your videos have been a huge inspiration in my journey to where I am and where it's going. As a fella over in the states, it's also cool to see the roads and scenery over there. There are some roads you video that I swear could be here in Tennessee. Just plain beautiful. Anyway, I had a question about the velocity stacks you used. How have they held up over time? Did you ever need to put a hood on then or go a different route? Looking at options to remove my dog bowl and air box when I remembered them and was curious how it's gone long term. Hope you're doing well and would be sick to see you make a return to these builds on your channel one day.
Hey mate! Velocity stacks are great and have held up a.ok. they are in up under tank so never had a problem with water ingress at all! Cheers mate for the kind words
Nice video. I love my Vstar 250 they are such fun bikes and just overall such easy maintenance. Engine tuning can be tricky I live in super high altitude my Vstar can be very tough to get just right.
For those that don’t know bleach and ammonia make toxic gases called chloramines known as Phosgene gas which is mustard gas. Be careful. When bleach and vinegar are mixed, it creates a harmful chlorine gas. This will rust the tank. Just thought this info should be out there to be careful.
thanks for this nice video,im having a problem where i could find a 10 or 10 1/2 inch eye to eye for my 1976 honda cb400f that has a 12 1/2 which is too high for me lol"thanks
To patina stainless, I would heat it up with a torch and quench in oil and then maybe sand a bit, do that couple times and you got a somewhat rust resistant antiqued finish on your steel parts
One of the dumbest things ever. If you want a hardtail then get one. But replacing your rear suspension with two pieces of steel tubing is just dumb and it looks dumb.
@@iRidetas I've been riding since 1986. Replacing your rear suspension with steel tubing. Is just dumb and it looks dumb. But you go ahead, it's totally awesome on your bike. Probably rides amazing also.
I Chris just checking in I see you haven't made any videos for a bit..so just checking in your OK mate hopefully your OK & see you back soon I buy you coffee then boy .take care people enjoy riding your your bikes 🤪😉😊👍☕️
Just got my bike back from dealer. They hooked it up to a co2 gauge. With podkit 130 main jet 27.5 pilot jet and needle clip on lowest notch. It was still running a bit lean on full throttle. So if people go for this set up consider 135 or even 137.5 main jet....👍
