It's crazy how this game was not just about rebellion in its game world, but also to us in general. A first person shooter with LITTLE to NO shooting, with parkour and navigation like a platformer. And this was made by DICE when they were huge on Battlefield and published by EA, one of the most diabolical publishers. It's such an anomaly in the grand scheme of the AAA gaming space, but it's a symbol of what modern games could've been: defiance. Defiance against modern conventions, defiance against the culture, defiance against corporatism. I miss those times, when gaming seemed like it could pierce the skies and only get higher. I can't remember a game that pulled this off quite like Mirror's Edge.
If only Ubisoft haven't played the "quantity over quality" card, with this game I hate their business model, it just doesn't fit the games they bought rights to
All of those years that Arkenstone spent in a zen like state of peace and tranquility has allowed him to tap into the deepest pits of aggression when making the Harkonnen soundtrack and I love him for it.
