Hi thanks for sharing this very interesting clip on RU-vid I was down the Barony Pit on a School outing in 1960 I then was a pupil at Glaisnock Rural School near Cumnock I remember Killoch just newly built in 1958.😢
June 1968 with mum dad and younger brother I was 5 he was 18 months old. I can remember it vividly being woken by the same piano song over loudspeaker to get up for breakfast . Which you could smell being cooked in dining room across from outdoor pool . We had a great week glorious hot weather in the outdoor pool A lot and horse riding along the Sandy beach . Lost Mum & Dad over the last 3 years. Was in the haven site a few years ago the roads are all the same but all chalets and most of the buildings are demolished my dad was right life is fleeting Butlins may be Gone in Ayr but the memories last for ever I’m 61 now lol but I can go back to that holiday in 68 in my mind like yesterday .
We were there in August the same year - Remember the side of the outdoor pool was painted bright orange so from the dining room it always looked as if the sun was shining...and don't forget the song over the speakers urging you to "Come and get an ice cream..."

What a super wee film. Thanks for posting it. As an aviation buff, it was great to get my first ever sight of the Spartan Cruiser II landing on Islay. The last of them was retired from service in 1942.
Thanks for loading this short film , Eric ; really appreciated : i remember it being shown in a cinema in the days when a new feature film was showing , and a suitable short film played at the start of the whole performance as a support. It is nigh on impossible to locate any recording of the Bread Love & Dreams song at the end ; it appears , despite extensive research , that the only way to hear this , is actually on the film soundtrack at the end of this short film. I can think of only two other films that hav this same aspect. Both X films so i wont mention them. There is little if any information about the director either. This 50 year old item is very effective in its own way , with a unique feeling and presentation.

Watching this show 60 years back I thought it was the funniest thing on television. much better than the BBC stuff. The working class humour resonated with me and I wanted to be the captain of a tugboat on the river..
There are two excellent books by Stuart Donald where he writes Para Handy tales after the style of Neil Munro. 'Para Handy All at Sea' and 'Para Handy Sails Again'. Well worth a read.
