Cool stuff. On Let's Dance, how can you beat Bowie, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Nile Rodgers in the same room? I need to locate Sap and the 3-legged dog to round out my AiC collection. Hopefully I get to do my Summer Tag video this weekend, list is done, just need to pull the records and film! Subbed!
Just started watching these Summer Tag responses....didn't have a clue about a lot of the artists you mentioned but I still enjoyed what I saw. Great response and liked/subscribed and looking forward to watching more of your videos 👍👍👍
@@RedChairReviews I won’t. Not hard, just nonsense. Rating and loving music are so different things for me. And globally rating seems stupid to me. Sorry.
The BeeGees are responsible for some amazing music. Both their own and what they have created for others. The Zombies are crazy good as well. The bass lines for Time of the Season and She's Not There are so great! Don't forget Jefferson Airplane, The Turtles, and The Mama's and the Papa's. Mama Cass' voice...just wow! I could go on and on!
I love the idea of it and its now been two years in a row I've had to miss it, sadly. I didnt have anything that I felt like I missed, so no worries for 2024 😅
You truly nailed the rankings. I can't believe you mentioned "Star A.D.!". Totally agree with your take on it. Also, Angel Dust felt different also, because we had the Bungle debut 1 year prior. For myself, I didn't know what to expect with Angel Dust because of Mr. Bungle. I saw FNM open for Billy Idol at the tail end of the Real Thing. Saw Bungle next in 92. It all breaks down to perceptions and you get it. See Bungle in May for the 2nd time in May....32 years later! I've followed Patton's career since 1989 and he is my music God.
Hmmm let me think. This is my list S - Angel Dust, Faith No More, We Care a Lot A - The Real Thing C - King For a Day D - Album of the Year E - Sol Invictus Really loved Chucks energy and for me the first two albums have a really strong vibe, puffy really shines, and I just enjoy how they already had such a strong sonic identity. Angel Dust is just Angel Dust obviously Real thing missed s tier because i don't enjoy Patton's kind of boy band whine he had on this one, although he obviously did a lot more than that on this album. Too many great vibes and moments for that gripe to ruin it, still a classic but maybe a "growth" album for the band. King for a day, kinda just turning into a rock guitar band here, Roddy seems to have taken a big step back from this one and for me, his keyboards always played such a huge part in elevating and expanding the bands sound. Some terrible tracks imo but still some good moments. I put it on occasionally 🤷♂️ Album of the year, guitars just filling up space in the mix here a lot of the time, I get no feeling of passion from it. Jim was my fav fnm guitarist, he had a very engaging way of playing imo, he'd make even simple chords or lines sound so vital. Only really put this on to see if I still don't like it 😢 Sol Invictus - fair play to the guys for getting back together and working together but this just ain't for me. Nor should it be! If me and the guys haven't gone down different paths in our tastes in all this time then something is wrong. 3 S tier albums and an A tier is an extremely strong career in my book, and they can't all be classics. They try out a lot of different stuff so it's gonna be a bit hit or miss here and there. Some fav tracks from their career - The Jungle, Pills for Breakfast, New Beginnings, Death March, The Crab Song, The Morning After, Woodpeckers from Mars, The Cowboy Song, The Perfect Crime, Absolute Zero, Jizzlobber (which is far beyond S Tier), Caffeine, Evidence, Gentle art of etc, Mouth to Mouth Wonderful band, massively influential and with great enduring appeal. Puff is one of my fav all time drummers, Billy helped define what I think of bass guitar, Jim in particular is like a relic from times when people played guitar like they really meant it, I'm not sure if anyone ever did "keyboards in a guitar band" as well as Roddy did, I am so grateful to Chuck for his uniqueness, and everyone else has already said plenty about Patton, so I'll leave it there 👍
Definitely a great, fun and catchy album, best stuff I have heard in years from them. My top songs are strange days, 1981, Corvette summer, fancy sauce, dilemma and look ma no brains!! 🤘🤘
This is such a fantastic vinyl tag video. It's great to hear about bands I'm not familiar with and the sampling is a real treat in your vid. Look forward to watching more on your channel. Happy 2024.
Thanks for doing the vinyl tag it’s really appreciated I’ve added your response to the vinyl tag playlist on my channel there’s well over 200 videos to check out . hopefully that will bring more people to your channel thanks again have a great 2024
Self titled is my favorite all time record. Just incredible authenticity and real raw emotion. you just don't get that type of honesty from artists anymore. Staley was just a phenomenal force and he let it all out on these records, but self titled man, fuuuuck that is, in my opinion, the epitome of endless depression. What a record. I also enjoy their work with DuVall as well, i just never really got into his vocal style on live performances. A bit too clean, theatrical and not as emotionally driven and raw as these songs, especially the Layne era songs, deserve to be sung. My favorite record from the duvall era btw is TDPDH...there are some songs on that record, such as phantom limb, breath on a window, choke, lab monkey, low ceiling that are just fantastic. Overall my favorite band, followed by songs: ohia and Gillian welch with David Rawlings. cool ranking!
S tier unplugged, jar of flies and dirt. Everything else is A tier imo. I can't listen to their stuff without Layne but i did give black gives way to blue a listen.
I know this sounds super hard to do but could we rank as many of the aic live performances we can find? I would love to see your opinion on the later shows. I can find all the shows for you and i guarantee that some gems exist in these shows
I’d definitely be interested in comparing live shows early (90, 91) to their formative Layne year though his sad decline-then compare to some William shows!
@@RedChairReviews dude bett do you need links to the show in 94? That was their first acoustic show also you could also throw 96 unplugged in if u want then i could send links to the 96 kiss shows, the only show i really know with william was with jerry cantrell solo live in 2002 2 weeks after layne died. William preformed alot of songs with jerry ill have to find it for u
Always love watching your videos! Do you have any reputable places online you would recommend purchasing vinyls from? I have a small collection and I would like to have a slightly bigger small collection.
Thanks! I’m glad you like it-not sure if Boomer or Jammer watch… Most of my purchases are still made in store-I like both local mom and pops AND places like The Exchange, where used materials are always changing in and out. If I do buy online, I use big sites like Amazon because they’ll send you a new one if it arrives damaged. (About 20% of what we order online arrives dinged) Also a place like Revolver Mag, because you can insure it for 99 cents! Preorders DIRECTLY from the artist or their label are also great, even though you often wait 9-12 months for it to finally arrive! 😢 Hope that helps. Happy hunting! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Yeah, still bummed because I just waited a year for that set and it showed up smooshed. But at least they gave me back some cash. 👏🏼 That Locoroco game is a blast!
My Ranking of AIC albums: 9. Sap 8. Rainier Fog 7. Tripod 6. The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. 5. Jar of Flies 4. Black Gives Way To Blue 3. Unplugged 2. Facelift 1. Dirt
I would agree with this ranking even though I haven’t made a deep dive in the last 3 records, I’ve heard a couple songs from each and it’s good but not classic AIC good, imo.
My Ranking: 9.-SAP. 8.-Rainier Fog. 7.-The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. 6.-Jar of Flies. 5.-Black Gives Way To Blue. 4.-Facelift. 3.-Alice in Chains. 2.-Unplugged. 1.-Dirt.
Quick questions! What size are you cubes? Where did you buy? And about how many albums do you have in each? I’m looking at redoing my setup and that amount in each cube looks really good.
We keep buying new Kallax units from IKEA. I’ve got two 5 X 5 units, plus a 2 X 5, and a 3x5. Downstairs in the basement, we built 3 high by 5 long using 2 by 12 boards. Heavy as shit, but durable. I’d recommend a Kallax unit, though. They’re convenient and affordable. Thanks for watching!
@@PJHVols For sure. 👏🏼👏🏼Summer is coming and I teach high school-so I should have more in-depth videos, checklists, and a detailed tour soon! Just one more week!🤘🏼
I'm going to subscribe because we appear to love all the same 90's albums. I saw Enslaved live recently with Insomnium, what a show! Both bands have great recent records.
I checked out the new Pumpkins today, I liked the opener but lost interest quickly after. I beat RE4 already, it’s sweet and I’m probably going to get that PGA.
It’s funny that you said that AIC isn’t really grunge bc you can kinda say that about all of the main grunge bands. They all sound so different. Grunge is so undefined. Pearl Jam is my favorite but I love AIC too and jar of flies is amazing.
