That's awesome! Would love to see some of them! I do sell wands on my etsy. I've been pretty busy in the past few months, so I haven't stocked the shop in a bit, but hoping to get back into it soon!
I am happy at lest some realistic madam hooch wand exists in this world. I so wish they make her want oficial.I cosplay her a d I had to make my own bad version of her wand
I feel you! The lathe definitely makes it quicker and easier! Mine is a fairly "cheap" bench lathe. If you have the space you can find some good deals on used lathes sometimes! 😊
I love your commitment to making all the varied types of replica wands, I bet you’re collection is amazing! I really want to start doing that, although I don’t know if I have the confidence to create a replica yet, as I’m carving and just starting out!
Thanks! I'm almost done the last wand that appears in the first movie! Editing the last video today actually! You definitely should, I just finished making Hermione's second wand for a friend and I had to carve all the vines. It's definitely doable! Gave me some good practice for when I eventually get there for the videos!
@@SauinWands What did you use to carve all the vines? I’ve only got hand tools right now so again makes me wary of attempts by something that needs to be perfect sizing 😁 Or like her monies wand where the vines are so intricate and specific!
Great attempt!! What did you use to stain/ preserve the wand? I’m a newbie to wand making (just released a video about my first attempts) and trying to learn more!
Thanks so much! I use a variety of different stains depending on which wood I'm using. The brand I primarily use is Varathane. I'll also add some bees wax or a protective layer of polyurethane after the stain, depending on the wand.
Thanks so much! I do sell some on etsy. If there's a wand someone wants that isn't on the shop, I encourage them to reach out for something custom made :)
Haha I've been waiting for this comment. I definitely could/should, but I like to have a lot to work with whenever I'm making a wand I've never made before. Easier to pivot that way. However, it does lead to some wasted wood which isn't the best.
actually if you can use thin wood “if” you’re about to sculpting it but if you have a machine just like what on video…it requires a thick wood it is for balancing and so you can do your own design and of course to avoid breaking it
Nice job. I am also a wand maker. My technique is a lot different than yours. I use a knife and raw branches so mine are more like Gregorovich style wands. Plus I have no talent for lathe work.😅 I look forward to more of your videos.
woo!!! i love seeing a new one of these in my feed whenever you upload! you inspired me to finally get a lathe for my own replica prop projects!! keep it up these are awesome!!!!!
so cool. :) I wish I had a lathe, I just carved into a dowel using a potato peeling and a craft knife. first time ever making wands but I'll post them soon.
This has been bothering me, what is your lathe set up? Because if I tried reducing that much wood at a time, everything would explode. What is your chuck situation?
Well, I cut the video in a way that makes it look like I'm taking way more wood off each pass than I actually am. Basically, each pass of the chisel in the video is roughly three real passes, I just cut the other two out. If I didn't cut the video it would be way too long 😅 Let me know if I misunderstood the question!
Great work! Arthur Weasley‘s wand would also be a pretty epic video. Made his wand once, it has this nice Barley twist that looks like it’s from some old piece of furniture.
