The picking pattern applied to any lick, chromatic or not, gives the lick new life and a different sound. I'm having fun with this now for at least 6 years since watching this video.
These guitars are crazy because they literally sound like the smaller body Collins and Santa Cruz guitars for 1/6th the price (conservative estimate). So articulate and defined. I prefer woodier sounding Martins and boomy Gibsons, but I may get one these just for something different.
I have rewatched this last segment many times. Not just because of the great tones, but also because your playing creates a wonderful feeling inside me! Many thanks, Morten!
Some students are playing faster than they can think. They benefit from slowing down the tempo. It is natural to want to play a standard at its usual tempo but that might not be achievable. It is better to do a slow and moody version of the tune if it results in your creating a better solo.
Players often have trouble learning how to connect arpeggios and scales. Doing transcriptions or learning to play a solo based on a transcription someone else had made was how I believe I learned to do it. At least, I could see how someone else did it.
I can't believe how many of these I see with aftermarket pickups. They sound better than anything else out there. It is wild. A nut change is probably worthwhile.
Hello Morten. Thank you for this excellent and concise review I’m looking for this exact guitar. I’ve liked the Revstar line since I first learned about them. I like the flat black look, prefer the neck specs and “dry” switch of these older models vs the recent revamped models and their “focus” switch, and I don’t have anything with p90s Do you still own this? Still enjoying it? If you sold it, any particular reason why? Was there something about it you grew to not like? Many thanks
Yeah, I still have it, actually brought it for a jazz gig just a few days ago: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4E-3HScYQ4k.html I have the new Revstar p90 as well, and to be honest, I like this original one better, especially for jazz. And I agree about the "dry" switch being a better option, I never use the focus switch or the 2 and 4 pick-up position on the new one.
@@MortenF Great And last question - is the matte finish a good thing or something you just learn to live with? I know it shows tons of fingerprints, certain high wear parts buff out while others don’t. Does the “patina” look attractive over time? Thanks again
@@tadlehmann1906 I'm not picky about the finish at all, so I'm probably not the right person to ask. I think this finish is cool, a glossy finish would be cool too. Maybe it's a little bit more glossy right where the right arm rests, but I'm not sure if it's permanent, or something that would even out with a polish.
@@MortenF thank you again for your feedback. I found a used version of this guitar in very good condition and it is on its way to me now. Very excited to get it in my hands. Cheers
@@MortenF Hello again Very happy with the guitar thus far but one more question. I remember from your review that you lowered the action and had the nut filed down some. Did you ever feel the need to roll the fretboard edges? It’s not a big problem for me but the binding on either side of the neck feels “sharper” than the necks on my unbound guitars. From what I’ve seen the way to remedy this is to gently shave down the corners with a razor blade Figured I’d ask. Thank you again for your time
From Canada here, just recently got the natural version of it, absolutely stunning guitar. The overall build quality and hand feel compared to the taylor GS mini (which is claimed as the best selling acoustic in the world) is quite a bit better. I got it for 750 pretax and let's say for if someone takes way the logo and info paper in the soundhole I'd not be surprised if it's sold over a grand pre tax easily.
In the past, I played many gigs like the one played for this video. I never enjoyed being background music. It's not much fun, but I tried to see those gigs as a practice sessions. Still not much fun, especially when it's outdoors in the cold! I very much enjoyed your song at then end of the video!
Sounds like you might like a break from the same old stuff. Try something new! Guitar will always be waiting for you. And yeah - ppl might not be watching... but they ARE listening, and they are enjoying. Live music is just fantastic.
This past year I retired from a 30+ year career in architecture. There were many times when I questioned whether any of that was worth it or if I picked a good career path. I think it would be a subjective thing. I will say that from the short clip of your band playing that your guys are outstanding and what you do and the clip at the end shows what a talented and diverse musician you are!
Technically you are correct, it should be written B/A. I think he was just trying to tell us that when you add A underneath a B major chord it is now an inversion of B7.
