Joe Lee doing the voice of racing ads on KCPX--- "Drag racing! Drag racing! This Saturday night, under the lights at Bonneville!" Heck yes. Most people don't think of Salt Lake as ever being a drag racing town, but this clearly proves them wrong. The 70's were the best of the sport , and I was there for everything I see in this video. Obviously you were, too! Thanks for posting!
Dem projects...always a sittin'...my Dad wasn't even born when this old beauty got parked up, and I am a middle aged man. This has given me a much needed reminder to GET CRACKIN'!
Looks like you found the holy grail. Did you finish the car or move it on as was ?? Would be great to see it put back together in the style of the period. Geof, Washingtonblue ‘32 3w Coupe ( England) 2020
only 5 comments since 2012? It's pure gold .Nobody noticed the ardun head conversion on the rail? The big block ford mel motor with tri power? The cars getting out of shape off the line and part way down the track and the flag man eating tire smoke and the track appears narrow putting him near the cars.More excitement and mechanical ingenuity here than you will find at any of your local tracks today.I race at beech bend ky .Its a nhra sanction track, you know N.H.R.A.-NO HOT RODS ALLOWED! Just an old drag racer watching the stands devoid of spectators, and feeling melancholy.
Hinge treatment was the custom thing to do, "in the day". Now that you have it, as it is ... why look like everyone else ? Those annealed hinges are bitch'n.
This car is Solid as a Rock! I'm sure what ever you paid was well worth it! BTW Try lighter fluid to remove that masking tape. It works much better than Goof-Off and is cheaper. I look forward to this restoration. TY ...Newk from Kentucky
I think it should have been named " Danny & Mickey Thompson" Without his father being the leader of this project his son would be doing something else. I think he could have been more respectful of his Father in some way.
If you still have those parts you're not using. Would they be for sale? Which parts were you not using? I came across these videos of this car about a year ago. Looks like a fun project.
