Hey, yes I did work. Placement only required 2-6 hours a day at the most. Sometimes it was just 2 hours a day. The other days I worked or had uni. I worked on the days I didn’t have placement, but like I said, if you need to work more, you could find a placement that does evening or weekend clients. Good luck Ruth!
I’ve been thinking of becoming of changing into this field for years. Everytime I look I always get discouraged because of how long it takes if have no experience or prior psychology course. Thanks for this
Congratulations 🎊 ❤ I'm so happy for you! I'm an art psychotherapist and I've been really enjoying your channel 🙂 embarrassingly it took me ages to click about the "Cee the counsellor" pun 😂
Hey Robyn, thank you so much. So glad you’ve been enjoying the channel! 😂 I sometimes wonder if people get the pun but I’m glad you caught on, better late than never 😉
You're welcome Jay! I suggest you check on their website between London, Liverpool & Glasgow or book a meeting with them to discuss your options, the link is in the description box
Thank you soo much these videos are amazing, so helpful! I wondered if you know, do you have to be in the UK to do placement? I am a UK resident but I spend half of the year abroad, would I be able to do placement in a different country or remotely or only in person in the UK? Thank you!
Hi, you’re welcome, glad the videos have been helpful for you. Where and how do you your placement will depend on your course provider and their rules. If you know where you want to study or you’re already studying somewhere, ask them if you can do online, in person etc. so you can plan ahead Good luck with everything!
@MauroAlberto-l5w there is guidance for what to write in each section of the application, if there’s anything you’re unsure of, you can email them, their email is on the website for you to contact them
Hi, I’m not sure I fully understand your question. You want a loan from student finance England to pay your deposit? Is that right? If so, what is the deposit for?
I absolutely love your take on things. "Expect the unexpected" yep! I myself said to my counsellor who I adored that I'd love to get her a gift and I asked if it was okay with her and she said that was fine. From my perspective (a client) I was grieving from having lost one of the people in my lives that listened to me without judgement. This ending came as a shock with me and I was very depressed. I intend to send the gifts to her workplace, I did mention I may send it later and she said that was fine. As a counsellor I assume you are trained to deal with all sorts of different endings. Thank you for making this video, I really needed to hear endings from a counsellors perspective.
❤️❤️thank you so much for sharing your experience, I really appreciate you taking the time to do so. It sounds like you and your counsellor had a wonderful relationship, I hope that you’re doing better now. I’m glad you found the video helpful ☺️
Hi, I’m interested in becoming a school counsellor and I have a few questions. I will be going into my 3rd year of university ( studying psychology) and after this , will I most likely be doing my level 2/3? Then after that will I be doing a post graduate in counselling? From there (once graduated), will I be able to find jobs in a a school or will I have to take additional training? Thankyou.
Hey, the best route to become a school counsellor after your degree would be to either do a masters degree in child & adolescent psychotherapy & counselling or go through the diploma route with a company called place2be, the different levels and routes are on their website: www.place2be.org.uk/counselling-training-placements/child-counselling-and-placements/how-to-become-a-child-counsellor/
Hi in near future I'm wanting to do a bachelor degree in counselling and phychothreapy. I'm worried about the academic writing. Will I need to do this to pass, and can this be done at home and not in the class. Can I use tools to help me correct my writing skills to make it more formal. Sorry all questions. Just anxious.
Hi, academic writing will be expected but you will have guidance from your lecturers and if you’re anxious, your uni library will probably offer academic writing classes/support to help you as well. You can also read some books about writing academically at degree level to help you even more. Also, give yourself time to write your essays, don’t do it last minute so that you won’t be too stressed
what websites will allow you to volunteer at 16? im 16 at the moment and would like to volunteer at a mental health service. i know childline does accept over 16s but idk who else does.
Hi, this is the link to the website, if you scroll down, the video will be there www.bacp.co.uk/membership/registered-membership/certificate-of-proficiency/
Hey I am international student in Uk for undergraduate degree and my 2nd year is gona start in September can I apply for any loan for my tuition fees please help and reply?
Hi, yeah you should be able to apply for the loan if the applications are still open right now. If they are not open, then you will have to wait until they are open again
I'm starting college in September level 1 which is 6 weeks, Level 2 which is 36 weeks Level 3 which is 36 weeks And Level 4 which is 2 years Seems very long winded but it is something I really would like to do. Sorry to ask if you have already answered this in your video but can I work as a full time counsellor with a Level 4
It’s not completely compulsory, it’s optional. But you could have a look at some job adverts and see what their desired qualifications are to help you better
Hey, it depends. At one point it was 3 days a week because I was doing 2 placements at the same time (one online and one in person) but because of client availability, I had online clients on 2 different days. But right now I’m only doing 1 placement and I have 3 clients so I’m only there for 3 hours and I stay to make notes etc. So placement will normally be just one day and how long you’re there depends on how many clients you have, this should normally be between 3-5 clients in a day
Love your vids, can i just ask when you did your diploma, did you have an entry test just to test how well you understand the style youll be studying etc and did you get through first time. It took me 5 😂 5 times lol.. And can I just ask once you're full qualified how much do you expect to charge an hour❤❤
Hey, thank you! I didn’t have to do an entry test, I didn’t know there was one lol. Once I’m qualified, I’m not 100% sure but it will vary for different groups of people so anything between £30-£50 when I’m starting out
@@ceethecounsellor it was a test to see if you could reference etc a certain style eg harvad style ..before you got on the course. You could do it however much times you could till you passed, then your able to start the course and 30 to 50 an hour isn't bad at all..how much clients do you realistically expect to average or do a day
@optimisticrealismx5829 that’s interesting, this is the first I’m hearing of it. Thank you for sharing and I’m not sure yet, but I don’t see myself having more than 6 clients in one day and I will have certain days where I’m off too
Is this fund just for a degree level or can it be applied to courses in counseling in colleges. So I'm applying to heartwood counselling psychotherapy college
I’m going to do a level 3 foundation course and then moving to a level 4 diploma. Are there any books you can recommend while I wait to study next year ?
I did a level 3 counselling diploma and then did my masters which I’m finishing this summer. The pay will vary depending on your experience and the job. Starting salaries for therapists will be around £23-£30k but can increase as you grow in experience and depending on the demand for that job
So helpful as I’m thinking so rigidly about what pathways are available from studying counselling but this has made me more open minded about what other careers might be just as fulfilling other than becoming a therapist!
I'm a graphic designer debating starting training to become a counsellor. I'm worried about whether I am jumping from one bad industry to another. This video was helpful.
No it’s not, a lot of people come into counselling from a wide variety of careers. You can study counselling on the side while maintaining your current career and you can see if it’s for you without having to drop your job. The classes are usually once a week, and for a few months so it won’t put too much demand on you. Thank you for watching, glad you found the video helpful!
Wow I'm also a former Graphic Designer thanks to AI. Now on the path to becoming a counsellor. Interesting to see other Graphic Designers becoming Counsellors! But I am concerned there isn't a lot of Counselling jobs when I look on Job Boards. It is in demand but are the jobs there?
