I am trying figure out Paula Abdul want to choreograph this Dragnet rap video. Both Dan and Tom could not dance at all. I'm glad both of them never did a follow up song at all period. Thank God for that for sure period!
I grew up in New Mexico and loved the Great Muppet Caper. However, it was only recently that I learned the opening hot air balloon scene was filmed near Albuquerque. Interestingly, Jim Henson was familiar with the area and often visited Abq because his father lived there.
Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade is 35 years old! I remember my late dad had it on vhs tape recorded The film works tremendously thanks to the perfect chemistry of Ford and Connery; their wit full banter is so much fun seeing them bounce off back and forth Considering Indy didn't have a perfect upbringing and his father was more obsessed with artifacts and his studies than his own son would create a rift There's a few touching scenes highlighting that Indy deep down has a big respect for this man who's let him down time and time again The score still works by John Williams, there's plenty of fun action set pieces from a plane shootout to a tank chase in the desert to a pursuit by Nazis via motorcycle, some impressive special effects with the Holy Grail itself, and there's many lighthearted moments The writers cleverly insert a lot of the Arthur legend with Christian mythology There's also a great theme of fathers and sons, the true treasure is the love and acceptance we seek from our parents, teaching our kids self reliance is either beneficial or harmful, taking a leap of faith is all it takes, there's a price for immortality choosing wisely or poorly, seeking illumination is more valuable than treasure Sadly River Phoenix as young Indy passed away at a young age and many fans and critics would've preferred this to be the final film But two sequels did follow allowing the legacy of this character to live on for newcomers 'Last Crusade' has a very accessible plot and developed the main character's backstory even more making the emotional crux of the film work while also capturing the classic B-movie thrills of those old serial adventures It's right up there with 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' recapturing the same magic that made these films so special
From executive producer, Steven Spielberg, the creators of gremlins, ET, the extra terrestrial, Indiana Jones, and the Temple of doom Raiders of the lost Ark. Close encounters of the third kind and Richard Donner, the Director of the omen and Superman
"While we were making the film, the turtles just grew and grew in popularity". Literally the only reason we got anything this mature and thoughtful. The fact that the money men didn't give much of a shit about this movie is how it turned out so well. I think Turtles 2 pretty much proves that if there was a roadmap on the property's popularity, this would probably have been a studio interference mess.
It's funny how where you grow up can influence you're life. Bob B. grew up in the general area of the major film studios. When you couple that with his extra large desire for movies like westerns, sci fi, horror, mysterys, & of course gorilla movies things are going to happen in youre life. Bob has made some great movie commentaries with Tom Weaver, They are very informative and sometimes get pretty funny.
Collectors like him will never exist again. It has become a lucrative business now - which is fine. But it's the innocent joy of things considered trivial then, that makes Ackerman and Burns so admirable.
It's a shame his collection was divided up after he died rather then given to a museum, then again a museum like the Smithsonian would've probably wanted documentation that the items were indeed the genuine article and not replicas. It's even more tragic that there were few who could've confirmed Forrey's stories left alive at the time of his passing, if he'd been able to produce documentation I think museums would've been more interested
I’m fortunate enough to be friends with 2 gentlemen who knew 4E for over 20 years. One has been a writer for Famous z Monsters /assistant/live in friend during the 70’s, while both helped Forry 100% during that sad moment in 2002 when his treasures met the auction block. They know famous people who can document the authenticity of Forry’s collection. Sadly this process would take a long time, and there are too many people trolls who love to show off their hallucinatory knowledge about Forry. Example: authenticity of his Dracula ring. How many Dracula films have there been? Since he’s only human, At 4E’s age it’s not uncommon to unintentionally stretch the truth or forget. He never said his ring was worn by Lugosi in the first Universal film. Forry said, “Bela Lugosi’s Dracula ring”. Fans assumed. Actually it was the ring Lugosi wore in the Abott & Costello movie. Money, 21st century thinking, Hollywood auctions, bragging rights if you win, all these-I believe- consumed today’s famous writers and filmmakers to turn a blind eye to Forry. They could’ve easily pulled a few strings and made the Ackermuseum a reality. But no. They were too selfish. I mean they’re all rich enough. Thankfully a good portion of the collection lives in sci-fi, popculture museums around California (?). Either way it’s safe and I know Bob Burns has many of 4E’s kong items. Lowest man on the totem pole is me: I own 5 items from 4E’s collection. I keep them safely and lovingly preserved.
That is so interesting how they shot the very beginning with Animal parodying the MGM logo. When I was watching this I played Hans Zimmer's music score from the Jim Henson Pictures logo and it fits exactly at the right time.
