Regarding the lighting, because Opeth don't use a click track, there is no timed lighting (apart from some preprogrammed sections), it's all done manually on the lighting desk, normally by a chap by the name of Magnus 😊
I think you talk to much over the music and the video. I have no issue with inputs, since that is why we watch reactions, but please pause the music for the input
So Empath is the album that this track is from. Go listen to that from beginning to end (you will probably be saying "I did not expect that" for most of the track changes! :O) That album is a good mix-up of a selection of his capabilities, although if you want to find out more there's a massive rabbit hole to jump down and I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
Hello! I’m usually the other side of the camera making videos. However, I’ve currently got covid so spending some time watching instead. I cut my teeth on Devin reactions about 6.5 years ago and has become one of my all time favourite artists. He’s called Hevy Devy for a reason because when he does heavy, he really does!!!! Here’s some suggestions to look at next. Try Higher live at Plovdiv, Deep Peace again live at Plovdiv, Juular official video, Love?, Detox, or Aftermath from his old band Strapping Young Lad. Then try the usual suggestions of Kingdom and Deadhead. Come back when you need more suggestions! Jim
Devin is like a box of chocolates, you never know what to expect. There's flowcharts out there where you can follow along your favorite style of choice. He covers anything from ambient to blue grass/new age, pop, rock to musical theater to rock operas to electronic mene songs to face melting extreme metal. This is probably one of the more accessible mainstream songs (ps. It's an anti-suicide song), alongside Stormbending. Examples: * Extreme/Industrial metal - anything Strapping Young Lad (Love, Almost Again, Shitstorm) * Ambient - Snuggles * Balls off the walls Prog metal - Deconstruction * The holy Trinity: Funeral/Basterd/Death of music at Royal Albert Hall * Your weird uncle Dev: Powernerd, Buddah Bidet, Precious Sardine, Meatballs, Frogs 'r Nice * Space rock concept album: Ziltoid the Omniscient * Every Devin style smashed into 1 song: Genesis * Devin, our favorite Disney princess: Why? Order of magnitude or Quarantine version. * Ambient space country: Casualties of Cool - any of the Dunlop versions * New age/blue grass: Ghost * Parody Punk concept album: Punky Bruster (e.g. Fake Punk) * Heaven metal: Trancendence * Dark/moody rock: Ki * Pop/metal: Addicted But yeah, the fliwcharts help! 😂
More Devin!! HEAVY -- "Skeksis" [his band Strapping Young Lad] Guitar soloing -- "Deep Peace" If you have 30 minutes -- "Funeral / Bastard / The Death of Music" live at Royal Albert Hall
If you want Haevy Devy, do straping young lad - Love. But If you realy want to see what his wall off sound is realy about, do Genesis. And if you are brave enough do the whole Ziltoit albuim. Because we all know that you can't just do one song from that album. If you are in the mood for somethimg more relaxing do Casualties of cool. And if you want a theatric preformance the Retinal circus is the bomb. Anything he did with Anika is great and his acousic stuff will make you cry
He's just released two new singles. But you'll find if you dive into his stuff, it's all over the damn place. Disney musical, face-smashing metal, rock, country. He's done it all.
Great reaction. You chose a good start. 👍This song combines some qualities you can get from listening to the "hundreds" of different Devin Townsend styles. Big sound, heavyness but also ambience and humor. If you want to start with young and heavy Devi, you can listen to Strapping Young Lad (Love?, Detox, Aftermath), if you want ambient, moody country-ish style, you can listen to Casualties of Cool (Mountaintop, Daddy, ). Most reactors begin with his concert at Royal Albert Hall 2015 (Deadhead, Bastard, Death of Music) which is a good idea, but already done very often. Devin Townsend has delivered tons of genius music in over 30 years now. Expect to say it in every Devin Townsend song you hear: "This is not, what I expected." There is perhaps only one thing you can expect: If he did something in one album, the next will probably be completely different.
He does all kinds of styles, everything. ^^ I'm glad that you were surprised, this is a very moving one. If you want more, just click another random one, they're all great.
It's not wrong for Linkin Park to continue making music 🎶. What is wrong is Chester's replacement. The girl has no voice. They need to get rid of the girl and just call themselves by the name "Fort Minor."
Good safe tried and tested prediction. I’m going Iron maiden Linkin park Sleep token I think download are really trying to push newer bands so I think they will give it to sleep token I would love AC/DC but last time they demanded there own stage, not sure if they want to cave to that demand again
She's trash, i could name 10 big reasons why. Number 1, she can't sing, her voice broke 45 times live on that live stream, 2 she's a Scientologist which goes against everything that Chester sang, about wrote about and poured his heart out about. If you know anything about them they don't believe in depression or any of the things he sang about. So it's contradicting, and she sucks . There's a big sign when Brad doesn't even show up to the live stream. Don't even call it Linkin Park anymore
🔥🔥❤Opeth❤🔥🔥 Subbing for more! Recommendations, in addition to the ones already mentioned: Hessian Peel The Grand Conjuratuon Leper Affinity. Old stuff, new stuff, it's hard to say since, to me, it's all Opeth. Sure, there are some tracks that aren't to my liking. If I had to pick my top 3 albums though, they would have to be Watershed, Still Life, and Ghost Reveries. They're mostly clean and growl vocals combined.
11:45 - The lightning designer for Opeth, @magnusboyd6613, commented of the lightning on "Andrew Rooney Drums" reaction of this song and I quote him (go check out that vid as well and give your compliments to the guy whilst you are there: "How are the lights synced? I do it all live mate! Well, a lot is programmed, but rythmic figures and stabs are cued by tapping buttons - say as one would play a keyboard! Thanks for a fun video - and the compliment! Best regards, the lighting designer."
I see this as i saw Nightwish departing with Tarja for Anette and then Anette for Floor, many diehard Tarja fans to this day refuse to admit that Floor just works well with the band so LP will be losing alot of those diehard fans for this BUT they will 100% go on doing well and becoming bigger as time goes on.
The Red Rocks performance is legendary. Then again most live performances at Red Rocks are. One of the few venues where you must bring your A game. First Avenue in Minneapolis (Prince's old club) falls into that category.
I'd go with The Grand Conjuration off Ghost Reveries or perhaps something off their album Still Life. Godheads Lament is a fantastic song. Or like Donc said in the comments. Baying of the Hounds. Can't go wrong with that.
I don't think No Fear is weird, it's genius. I can tell you don't know rap very much. The end part was an homage. This is essentially a concept album. Just because it doesn't fit boring ass norms that have been done over and over. His album can't be "normal" because he's unique like his music, it's called being a real artist. Terrible analysis of the entire album, IMO of course
Hello from Bangkok, I totally agree with you. Am the fan LP since 2000, now 44. I wait for so long 7 years since i bought tix to see concert in Japan that never happened. I cried alot when i first listened to this song. It likes i come alive again. LOVE LP and waiting for new chapter of LP. 🎉
She definitely sounds similar to Chester on the chorus, I don’t know the musical term but keeping the “A’s” low at the end of sentences was very Chester.
I think it was smart to go for a female screamo vocalist instead of a male to create a new chapter for LP. A male one would have even more pressure and comparisons made to Chester than she already has.
