dynamite vid, subscribed. I drafted Ladd late in one of my leagues because I was several drinks in and thought his name was funny. Looks like I might have a future keeper at least.
He'll be a great pro if he stays healthy... he has great footwork of all the route tree and has soft hands... nice pick... I was hoping my Seahawks grabbed him but we're loaded already... Doug Baldwin and Lockett didnt have that 5th gear... SMH Dont sell this guy short with a Franchise QB he'll be a much better player in the Pros than he was at Georgia
Thank you, Thank you for sketching out what I have been screaming for Decades! Growing up in Chicago in the 60s I was obsessed with Deacon Jones. I would key in on him during every play and follow him even if he were guesting on the Brady Bunch or Odd Couple. Conditions of the time have blurred his achievements as explained in the video. No pass rusher since has ever surpassed his excellence.
I'm a chargers fan, but he's still mostly a z/slot receiver at the next level. He's got a little more juice than than the classic "white slot receiver" but that also cause he's very frail right now and probably needs to add weight to stay on the field at the next level. He doesn't come down with many contested catches and his measurements (stride/arm radius) are short af so I don't see him as a pure speed threat down the sidelines or someone who's gonna make those highlight grabs (josh downs/tyler lockett). He's gonna obviously make plays down the field off of his other routes and double moves (kinda like zay flowers). Welker and company have 1200 yrd plus season and were nigh unguardable 1 on 1 so there's really nothing wrong with that. He can eventually be a qb's best friend and that's all that matters. His biggest challenge will be staying on the field imo. If he figures that out he's gonna be a dude.
The Chargers are in for a though year. They unloaded a lot of talent and drafted a couple of potential stars. Over all they are less talented than last year. So be patient fans This make over will take a few seasons.
You’ll be surprised this year. The defense is going to be at very least top 7. I’ve seen enough in the pre season to know that minter is an amazing coach that teaches skills to a great level even to the fourth stringers. The o line is much better. Mike and Keenan are very talented but didn’t play all too often Herbert’s best year he barely saw the two of them. QJ also looks improved but time will tell. I expect 10 wins year one under harbaugh wouldn’t be surprised if it goes down to 9 or up to 11.
Patrick is the GOAT and it's not even close. Patrick has 3 rings and 4 Super Bowl appearances in 6 seasons starting and also 6 AFC Championship Game Appearances and 4 AFCCG Titles in 6 years. That's a 66% appearance rate in Super Bowls, 100% appearance rate in AFC Championship Games... a 75% win rate in Super Bowl appearances... a 66% win rate in AFC Championship Games and he's been Super Bowl MVP in all three Super Bowls wins with two NFL Regular Season MVPs . Even with Tom Brady's first 3 Super Bowl wins, he had the same appearance rate as Mahomes in his first few years but was not the Super Bowl MVP in any of his first three Super Bowl wins and wasn't even considered the best QB in the NFL nor NFL MVP until late in his career. At this rate if good health and organizational continuity remain relatively the same... we're not looking at MJ in the 1990s or Brady in the 00s-10s ... we're looking at Bill Russell in the 60s, where it's not unfeasible to imagine 8-10 titles judging how he's carried bad WRs and bad defenses to glory. Patrick carried the 31st ranked defense in his first season starting to an OT coinflip against Brady to within inches of making the Super Bowl and carried the worst group of NFL WRs to an OT Super Bowl win in 2023-2024 against an OP 49ers team with Pro-Bowlers everywhere on offense and defense. Let's be honest Brady nor any other QB could take the 31st ranked defense to OT in an AFCCG Title Game nor the worst group of receivers statistically to a SB win over the best defense and offense, Tom Brady simply didn't have the talent to overcome limited rosters or carry bad defenses (Tom never won a SB without a top 3 ranked defense including his Tampa Bay run... Patrick won two SBs with a bottom 20 ranked defense in 2019 and 2022) and while Aaron Rodgers may be the only one who's had Patrick's talent, Aaron simply doesn't have the mentality to overcome adversity. No one player has achieved more with less and has absolutely dominated a single sport season to season. It can be argued that Jordan's floor as a player was a 2nd round playoff exit from 1984-1991 and Tom Brady's floor without a top ranked defense was the same too. Patrick's floor is actually Overtime in the AFC Championship Game whether it's with elite receivers or scrubs or with scrub defenses or elite defenses, it doesn't matter. No top ranked defense? ... No Problem... No Tyreek or top ranked or even serviceable WRs? ... No Problem... double digit deficits whether it's 0-24 in the playoffs... no problem. Let me put this into perspective, Marquez Valdez-Scantling who was his most reliable-unreliable WR1 in 2023 is already being discussed of being cut in the Buffalo Bills preseason 53 man roster cuts. The guy beat a decent Jags team that injured him in the same divisional playoff game along wtih Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and an overpowered 2022 Eagles roster in the Super Bowl on one goddamned leg throwing to MVS and Juju Smith Schuster as his primary options!!! The sum individual greatness of a player is who can achieve the absolute maximum with the absolute minimum and Patrick Mahomes is peerless.
Hell yea, let's keep the hype train movin'! ⚡ I think his slot usage will go up with us, just given the strengths/weaknesses of our other WRs, but it wouldn't be insane to see him rotate there with Palmer, either (who was okay filling in for Keenan in the past). Also, fwiw, I think a better draft outcome comparison would have been vs Nabers + a top C prospect, given our interior OL was the big weakness (RT was actually the 2nd best spot... distant 2nd, granted, and he hasn't gotten rave reviews moving to RG, so far 😕).
That is totally fair regarding the iOL. Kinda insane that they didn’t address the position at all in the draft (or OL in general after Alt), especially considering they had so many picks.
Yeah, that’s definitely the weakest area of his game (along with contested catches a bit) but there is room to improve there, and even in a worst case scenario where he doesn’t get much better, he’s so good elsewhere that it won’t be a huge deal.
He was unblockable he has more sacks than what's said. The man coined the term sack him and Reggie white are the 2 goats of defense the secretary of defense and the minister of defense. Much love to deacons legend and to Reggie whites. Bruce smiths dont count it took him nearly 50 more games and favre gave him a lay down for the record breaking sack.
Great video! I found it because I was searching for videos on Deacon Jones, I just like to watch them from time to time to remember his greatest. Deacon came into the NFL when I was 1 years old and I knew who he was by time I was 8. He was the greatest.
There is NO WAY Mahomes had just 9 yards after the 1st QTR of the Superbowl. He hit Kelce for a 20 yd crosser alone on the final drive before over time.
Fantastic piece.. I was a ram fan in 70’s and he had/ has no peer.. there are some great documentary pieces of the fearsome foursome and their relationships from 60’s til death.. Merlin Olsen and deacon couldn’t have grown up or had more different personalities but loved each tone like brothers, and Rosie Grier led a stellar and unique life post football- everyone should look it up- truly moving
Great spotlight on Mahomes's career thus far. I'm a 49ers fan, and even though this guy has ripped my heart out twice, he's certainly on an unprecedented pace. I'll always take Joe Montana if I could have one QB for any game, but objectively speaking Mahomes' greatness can't be denied. The only pushback I'd give to crowning him so early is that he certainly has some advantageous playing in the era that he does. I do wonder how well he'd be able to hold up if he was playing in a rougher era like the 80's or 90's even if he was on as good as a team as the Chiefs are now. We'll never know, but like with all of modern quarterbacks that thought crosses my mind. If Mahomes does the impossible this upcoming season by getting a three-peat, I'd probably be ready to anoint him as the best to ever do it. I feel like that's more impressive than 7 overall rings over 20 seasons.
The league has no idea how close 15 is to 5-6 titles already. An offsides by Dee Ford, an inexplicable half against Cincy, and 3 dropped TDs against Tampa. The Chiefs roll the Rams in the 2 they missed and if those 3 TDs are caught in the Tampa game..... the Chiefs might just win that one too.
@Xefory The video was made in 2020 and referenced the previous four years - ie 2016-2019, which were objectively lesser than his 2020-2021 MVP campaigns and his earlier run of dominance. If you’re a dumbass, then just say that. But thanks for the free view and engagement, bub 😘
@@Xefory irony calling someone fragile when you’re the one upset when someone said a guy was a lesser player when he wasn’t winning MVPs than when he was winning MVPs 🤡
