Thank you for the video--I hadn't even thought of trying to grow blueberries from storebought berries, but I will definitely give it a try. Blueberries are too hard to grow in my area; nursery stock is too expensive for experiments. This would be a much cheaper way to get plants.

The blocks themselves will leach the water from the soil. You'll be watering twice a day.

I do deep watering once a day. They get morning shade from the house and afternoon sun. I am still growing them.

Cant be great for the soil due to how concrete is made. Playing a risky game to eat that
@regulator18E
@regulator18E 4 месяца назад
No you're not. Building blocks do not leach chemicals, they are bound to the concrete matrix, this is scientifically proven and people have been safely doing it forever. Worst case scenario is the concrete raises the pH through leached alkalinity.

How do you water the pot?
@thidasgarden
@thidasgarden 5 месяцев назад
I make sure that the soil is moist when I start planting. Then just use the watering can with spray holes (the round part that is connected to the can) to water the seeds to make sure the soil does not get dry out.

When I rented a townhouse about 28 years ago my landlord was surprised at how I grew sunflowers in a cinderblock and he said in the beginning it never would work. I explained to him the way why it would work. And he got it. I actually planted them in cinderblock because he killed my first batch with his lawn mower. I love cinderblocks and made a kitchen shelf out of them as well. Thanks for your video and I will do the same this year.

You have 39 plants.. You Harvested one corn and said the next one in few days. If you saved all harvested corns it will take months to collect all corns and then what? You freeze them s you'll have enough to make a meal with? If I was a farmer I would grow baby corn and would sell them for $3.00 A corn. No less than $2.50 A corn.
@TheKevstube
@TheKevstube 7 месяцев назад
I would pay that much for baby corn in Calif
@thidasgarden
@thidasgarden 7 месяцев назад
That is why we do not see any fresh baby corn in any market including farmers market. That is why I grow them so that I can eat the fresh. Something money can't buy. The only baby corn we see in US in canned baby corn that were made in Thailand. The difference is not even comparable. Fresh ones are 1000x better. I grow them about 3 patches.. They don't need much room asmthey don't need to get mature. I have enough to make a meal if I wait for about a week.
@Trakehner20
@Trakehner20 7 месяцев назад
What about if you have lots of wild rabbits, it'll make it easy for them to eat them...I don't really have anywhere to put them up higher on. Any recommenations?
@thidasgarden
@thidasgarden 7 месяцев назад
Do you know for sure that rabbits will eat? Squirrels don't eat them in my backyard. They are too acidic. If rabbits eat them you may have to cover the individual plants with chicken wire. That way you can easily remove them and pick the fruits. Fold the chichen wire to cover the pot or the bricks. I do that for seedlings to protect from attracts of different animals.

Why don't you people stick to the subject matter of how to grow the berries, instead of just talking ad nauseam. It's very annoying.

Hello, did you just toss the seeds on top of the soil, or did you cover them up with soil as well ?????
@thidasgarden
@thidasgarden 9 месяцев назад
Don't cover them. The seeds are very small. They take long to germinate. The best way for me is to let them come up in my compost material when I transfer them to the garden.

They taste like spinach. No taste of heat at all. You can stir fry them, but you need to add a little bit of water to cook them good. I stir in an egg at the end.

I bought a pack of seeds of baby corn and was wondering it there is a certain variety used for it or if any variety can be picked early like this?
@thidasgarden
@thidasgarden Год назад
There is an heirloom variety I tried and worked well. However regular sweet corns are sweeter. To me seed company claims it is for baby, but regular ones are better. You can try them side by side and see.
