It depends on the size of the cup. Consider pouring down the center and counting to 5-7 second with a 8oz when pouring. And then pour around the edges of the shave ice to get the flavor all the way down in all parts of the shave ice.
It generally freezes with lumpiness on top. It can just take some work to get it balanced properly. You have to move the ice block around to get it centered so it's not off balance.
