Nowhere near Melbourne.... St Andrews and The National. Id put them in the Peninsula category. Also from memory, Cape Schanck golf course is next door to The National.
I used to be a member of Melrose in the late 90’s , it was a very nice club with a nice mix of people. There were some very wealthy successful guys , and a lot of successful working class guys or tradesmen , they had their fair share of everything, doctors, lawyers, dentists , entrepreneur, contractors, etc… Good mix of people as well , Irish , Italian , Jewish, black , they were very non discriminatory way before clubs became that way . The grill room restaurant was a bar that was as much fun as a high school cafeteria, it was always a great time . The course was well manicured and the serious golfers always would be teeing off early in the morning. The afternoon there would be a lot of scats games being played . The club was sold in the early 2000s , fully bonded members were given there bonds back . A lot of the members joined Torresdale Country Club , which I think is now the Union League . After my knee replacement I have been walking a lot where I go which is a semi-private 9 hole course about 10 minutes from Melrose . I would gladly go back to Melrose and the walking rates are great since I like to walk anyway it makes it much more of a sport . Melrose was bought by a Korean businessman and many of the newer members were Asian and they play much slower than we are accustomed to and have a different sense of edicate . At my current club there are a lot of Asians and some think nothing of driving 15-20 or more balls off of a tee or a spot on the fairway, that’s what a driving range is for . Melrose is a great track . I’d like to walk it or play in a tournament. It’s well worth the price . They used to have a pool they filled in and a nice dining room , they would have monthly banquet. Your critique was very fair and brought back fond memories. They would have the club championship there , when I was a member, the club champ was always Pete Mimmo and they had a team who played other area club teams , like Whitemarsh or North Hils . Some nice clubs are in the area . .
@@parfessor keep up the info so I can find good reasonable places to play . Thanks so much. Golf is a type of therapy for my and where I am currently at they are always having these winky dink tournaments. I get it, that it generates revenue but there is only so much activity you can have on a nine hole course. It was great the past three years but has gotten overcrowded and one hole is constantly under construction so we’re down to 8 .
Love the review man. I was lucky to play the North Course once myself about 5 years ago and I remember how tough it was. Greens were deceptively tricky if I recall! The par 3 17th hole was my favorite hole.
That’s a real nice looking course. We ended up playing another nice course down there before we left. I played white clay creek, I believe it was called. What an amazing course. 85.00 and you had cart boys shuttling your clubs, washing them, full gps in the carts. And one insane links course. I think between 2-3 was nearly a mile cart ride. Worth a visit. That was in Wilmington DE.
It’s been on my radar, thinking soon you’ll see a video from there. I try to knock out two courses in one day if I travel far so I’m trying to parlay it.
@@parfessor 1. Pryor Creek, Pryor, OK 2. Lone Pine - Verdigris, OK (address is Claremore) this is a very good beginner course. It's only a par four course but it's definitely one to start on. It's only $17 and it comes with a golf cart. 3. Heritage Hills - Claremore, OK 4. Bailey Ranch - Owasso, OK 5. Hillcrest Country Club - Bartlesville, OK
@@parfessor voice modulation, it was a Will Farrel skit from SNL that was funny as shit and I didn't know how to spell it. Ya got me, now check out that skit because it's hilarious, don't take it so seriously.
@parfessor ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Poc1upTejD8.htmlsi=TwlraqwQqevUnF2J There are actually several. Also, I was in bed next to the sleeping wife, so the volume was very low watching your vid. Probably helped make you sound more robotic. I'll edit my original comment so it isn't so mean lol.
@@parfessor great question we aremaking a trip to Portland as part of a golf trip. We are starting out in southern maine at ledges. Then to kennebunk to cape arundel. Then to the mountains to sunday river and belgrade lake. Last day in porland probably dunegrass thank to your recommendations
A couple of errors. I lived inLincoln for 45 years until I retired and moved back east. 1st Error: Arbor Links is not a public golf course. At best it can be said to be private course with some public tee times. But it is a good course and will test every skill, or lack thereof, that you have. 2nd Error: Wilderness Ridge is not in Lincoln County. It is in Lancaster County in the city of Lincoln. Another course that will show whatever problems you have with your game. As will Quarry Oaks where you need to be able to hit your tee shots straight or bring a lot of extra balls. The only one of these I haven't played is The Prairie Club before I moved back east. Have friends that did and they all raved about it. Of all these Indian Creek might be the easiest to play because it's a lot more open than the others. Courses like this are generally referred to "Prairie Links" in this area.
1. Kicking bird Golf Course 2. Golf Club of Edmond 3. Lincoln Park Golf Course 4. Earlywine 5. Lake Hefner Good video though but the top 2 are def the best in the Metro
Ok Airway Meadows shouldn't be on any top 5 five course. The back 9 is like playing clown golf. You cant hit a driver on any of the back 9. It feels like they just crammed 9 holes into a small area its brutal don't play here its not worth it your time. The Bar is nice though.
Snowmass Club is one of the nicest courses I have played. We are members at the snowmass club resort. I have played several public courses in the southeast, along with some links golf in Ireland. Always is in the best condition, and amazing view on every hole. Unfortunalty it is not public, but if you rent a condo for a trip you might have access at a cost.
