I think you would be wise to leave the interior as it is, you will find more buyers for it in it's original condition. People will want to buy it for what it is rather than what it's trying to be. In my opinion anyway.
Hi guys, i own a Serie II Land rover, it's cool, robust, and compared to other off road vehicles, its very fuel effective. But to be honest, i hate the interior, it is very uncomfortable and i am going to sell this one, in your opinion, should i modify the interior so it may be comparable to modern SUV with fancy things with the concept of Future meets Past or let it be in the Distant Past?
Thank you for pointing out one of the magics of a old Land Rover nose lots of it from every thing engine gear box and thousands of loss bits. Our one has always had a squeaking sounding like a bird singing! other magic is the smells driving a old land Rover is a physical experience. Must get our MOT this week with the top off window folded a Old Land Rover is even better!
Liam .. think its a diesel as they have a second "Starter key" which you can see used at the start. Once ignition key is on you have the choice of then turning the starter key one way for heater plugs or other way when the engine is still warm from previous use. Yes non synchro 1st & 2nd gear as straight cut gears are far stronger than synchro slant cut gears that sap power due to their side loads produced. Would have liked the video to show less cameraman reflections & a few shots of it going past as there was two of you im surprised you didn't.
It's a petrol. To start it I turn on the ignition then use the push button under the dash to engage the starter. As you say, the diesels had the second key.
+REV4NS1 ok didn't spot the button, I drive a 1958 diesel & just picked up a 59 diesel in bits which later had a petrol fitted but both have the second key.

Thanks. A Series II will fit in nicely at your rallies I should think. Maybe think of a LWB 'cos there's not much room in the back of a SWB, ok if you've got a trailer though. Synchro on 3rd and 4th, they don't come much more basic :-)
Very nice indeed, thinking of buying a Series 2 soon to transport all my old iron to steam rallies! Am I right in thinking the 2/2A has syncrho on all but 1st and 2nd? Very nice indeed.
Quick....you better make a petrol stop! Love the old twist knobs for the dash vents that were used on the 59's. I believe Land Rover switched permanently to the slide levers the very next model year. My parents bought a brand new Land Rover 109 in 1959 here in the United States, and we drove that thing all over the country back then as a family, 2 parents and 6 kids! Still love the old series Land Rovers to this day.
