Exelente video de como construir un recinto para el láser, pero lamentablemente no cuento con los recursos economicos para comprarte los planos😢

It wasn't until I watched this and another video that I realized dovetails were the old carpenter's way of making drawers and containers that would stay together without the need for glue if you didn't have any. Obviously glue helps, but if you dont have glue, just make a snug dovetail for each corner and it should stay pretty sturdy for a few decades, depending on the amount of wear.

I’m nowhere near this level of woodworking, but I am building my own Adirondack chairs, yay! At 65 it seems odd to start this woodworking journey! But learn something new every day!

ew he used table saw to cut the joints. not only that he then used wood glue to secure the joint witch proved that joint was weak in the first place. no one use this joint in construction it will fail you.

I want to know where you got your compass that one looks really unique

Hello. That’s a beautiful joint. When you want to mark the perpendicular face, I’m thinking you would not want to spin the spline 180°s and mark. I’m thinking you should use the other end of the spline to mark so both faces are lined up when you glue and push it through?
@kiwiworkshop
@kiwiworkshop 29 дней назад
Thanks. Yes, you are correct regarding marking out the spline. The way I did it introduced a small error, but since the error made the joint slightly wider at the top, the wood pushed out a bit to compensate when the spine was inserted. Basically, I got a bit lucky and wasn't aware of the error at the time!

@@kiwiworkshop Thank you so much! I would like to attempt this so wanted to make sure I understood the order of steps to take. What a fantastic way to make the woefully weak miter joint strong. 💪

I really struggle with pocket holes sliding around once you’ve glued up and you start screwing the screw in, the board moving just enough to make it not flush…. Been driving me crazy for a while then this pops up….. such a simple solution .. thank you 🙏

Hi, it's pine but this was just for demonstration purposes. Often this joint is used to connect the guitar neck to the body where different types of wood are used.

The "Too Much Wasted Effort U-seless joint, because it accomplishes nothing, and with enough weight on one end, it will fall open easily. Next time... dowels, glue, and screws. The Trifecta of Total Hold.

I'm pretty certain I will build this once my holiday starts. My two cents though: usually you don't make the surface more straight with sanding, you make it less. I'm planning on running the piece on a jointer-planer on all sides before cutting, should make it straight, and using very little epoxy.
