Hi! I’m Jack and i run the channel ThamesValley999 showcasing emergency vehicles responding from all over the country! Be sure to subscribe and watch our videos which are uploading every week!
Turning a hard shoulder into a traffic lane only makes for more vehicles on the motorway. A 3-lane motorway will have as many accidents as a 4-lane, but, at least, the emergency services would be able to get through!! Greater fines for those who use the hard shoulder as a cheat's way of getting past traffiic queues will deter those drivers in the future.
you have read the title right? No where does it say or imply a bomb was confirmed to be on the plane however the security threat was of an explosive device being on the plane…..
@@AdiPearStudios thank you ! And it was a cold day I think in October last year so couldn’t feel my hands and the adrenaline from running aswell to record this as these counter terror vehicles don’t go out much but thanks none the less !
@@AB-cs7vm its secto so South east counter terrorism officers and secto is made up of 5 counties I believe so Thames valley, Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex and Kent
@@AB-cs7vm the plane was meant to land at Heathrow which is about from them a 20 minute drive up the m4 from Reading but I believe they went to standstead to assist anyways
I’m seeing Highways Agency units using their ‘amber’ lights to part traffic in this was increasingly…. I’d be interested to see what powers they have to do this and what training they have to undertake / split lanes in the exact same way as emergency response vehicles who have the legal framework in place to do this….
@@ThamesValley999 I always thought that the Ferrara ultra heavy used by the FDNY for the rescue companies was the best looking appliance in the world but now I think this HRU really wins the prize! 😁 A Long Way From the Scania multi-star we used when I was on the job 🙂
I mean to be fair i think part of the issue with smart motorways is you have to smart to use them. Many drivers are to thick or self absorbed in the uk. Ive been to countries where if theres a crash everyone moves over and leaves one lane open for emergency services. Even if they dont know theres a crash they see everyone moving over and do the same. You see it here, people move over to lwt them through but then move straight back into that lane, preventing the next from getting through. Now im not saying they were a good idea in general, but there definitely not a good idea given the attitude of some drivers on british roads.
Smart motorways only work when combined with smart drivers in Germany they'd be extra space left in between 2 lanes but in Britain they'd be people taking advantage of that 100% so no one leaves space but in a break down situation we need a hard shoulder, especially as a dad, having your family stuck in a live lane is one of the most fu(ked up feelings
i love your videos and reacentl i had an operation and sadley missed the last day at school and wold i be possible in your next video if i could get a shout out because it is my dream to get a shout out and i hope it comes true i'm looking forward to your next video 🚒
I've been an international and UK trucker (I'm british) for over 30 yrs. Smart motorways are the cause of more traffic congestion, not less. They slow traffic further back, which then itself becomes a traffic jam, which calls for further speed restriction locally but also even further back which creates a third traffic jam. Now I understand the "logic" behind slowing the traffic rear of the first traffic jam to allow time for it to clear, however it can't clear fast enough if it's speed is so low it's crawling, this then causes the second jam to crawl and finally the last jam each one comes to a creep because the speed is lowered and lowered until it's creeping at 20 and 30mph. The way to resolve is to increase speeds at the first jam to say 70mph as a MINIMUM speed, and going slower gets you a ticket, this allows traffic behind to move, and free up second jam this then returns jam three to normal driving. Leaving these speeds like this at hotshots reduces the traffic build-up. All that said and done, taking away the hard shoulder was an idea, and part-time hard shoulders are the worst. It has led to widespread confusion and multiples of deaths already. Smart motorways are about criminalisation, they are a way to indirectly raise taxes for central govt. If you are caught speeding your insurance goes up, when it goes up so dies the tax you pay on your premium (IPT) It's currently 15% I think. So if your premium increases you pay more tax not for one year but upto five years after the event. This across thousands of people each month is a huge longterm cash influx for central govt. This is why the govt are happy to grant these stupid notorway schemes going ahead. Mass confusion caught on camera banged to rights wait for the renewal of the insurance premium ... ker-ching! These are not for safety, I've seen more accidents since these were installed than before they were envisaged. Yes traffic is heavier (more of it) than previously, but so long as its kept at a constant speed it keeps moving. We need better road planning not camera systems, slip roads that we know back up need proper studies of the local traffic to see how far back it gets at peak then male the first lane exit only that way the remaining cars can move right and keep going, it's about better planning and planning laws being made fit for modern traffic issues and volumes. Speed limits need raising not lowering, it's low speeds that bunches cars up, higher speeds move traffic along. What do I know? I'm just a dumb trucker with an engineering PhD. and an HGV licence.
