Hey All! I hope everyone is doing well out there. My name is Mike, and I make reactions of music and film.

I've created a movie reaction channel called Mike Watches Stuff @mikewatchesstuff in order to make this place a little neater, so all future movie and show reactions will go there.

I am now on Twitter and Instagram if you would like to reach me there! twitter.com/yeedeed1 https/instagram.com/yeedeed1

Dude if you were blown away by this, you have to do a reaction video to their first demo tape on RU-vid called HIM - This Is Only The Beginning. Its much darker, harder and so different from anything else that they ever released. I have to stop myself from listening to it everyday.

To be 100% clear, this plot was DISTURBING AF in 1999. Especially to 14 year old me 😅🤭 Nowadays of course, stuff like this doesn't shock AS much anymore, I have since seen sh*t like Human Centipede and A Serbian Film but I still love Ravenous FAR more than those. This is a great fn movie.

The German dub of this movie is SOO great, too. The voice actor for Ives uaually speaks Hugh Jackman's roles (that's what he's most known for, but he also voiced Frieza in Dragonball Z for example. 😅) but I think THIS may actually be his best piece of work ever. His name is Thomas Nero Wolff, if you wanna find out more about him.

Good review, and yes this is one of my favorite movies too. However, there are some major differences from the book. Some understandable, others are like why the hell did they keep that out of the movie. ((Book spoilers ahead)) In the book, MAJ Hayward was actually very appreciative, brave, and humble. He was willing to submit to Hawkeye's woodsman experience and they respected eachother. Furthermore, there was no love interest between the elder daughter Cora and Hawkeye. Additionally, Hayward was to betrothed to Alice the younger daughter not Cora. At the massacre of Ft. William Henry, a true event, it was way worse than what was depicted in the movie. At the start of the massacre, a huron warrior snatches a baby from it's mother's arms and picks up the baby by the leg and then slams its head against a rock. Later, the Huron actually start to drink the blood of their slain victims. Monroe doesnt die after surrendering Fort William Henry he goes with Hayward, Hawkeye, Uncas, and Chingagook to rescue the two girls from Magua. Near the end of the book Cora is killed by being stabbed in the chest by one of Magua's warriors. BTW, Magua had a thing for Cora and wanted to take her away to be his wife. Just before Cora's death, Magua says to her, "choose Magua's knife or his wigwam." Uncas, who views the women as his to protect, is stabbed in the back while Uncas is killing the warrior who stabbed Cora. He then faces Magua but now one of his arms is useless. They fight but Magua stabbed him to death, then Hawkeye shoots Magua. I prefered how the movie has Chingagook kill Magua. In the last chapter, during a large Delaware Tribe funeral held for all who fought against the Huron at a great last battle. Monroe cries bitterly over Cora's lifeless body that has been wrapped in birch bark and adorned with flowers by the Delaware women. Uncas' remains are sat up adorned with all kinds of medals, trinkets, feathers, and wampum by the Delaware to greatly honor him as a highly respected war chief. As expected, Chingagook speaks over his son's funneral and tells the Delaware not to be sad as Uncas was a great warrior who fought with honor and earned the reapect of his cousins the Delaware tribe. It's explained earlier that the Delaware Tribe is closely related to the Mohicans, although this village of the Delaware tribe were recently allied with Magua and the Huron but were turned to support the Mohicans and Hayward and Monroe after Hawkeye pleades their case to their aged chief. This was similarly depelicted in the movie. At the end the patriarch chief of the Delaware tribe says he has "...lived to see the LAST warrior (Chingagook) of the wise race OF THE MOHICANS." This book's last chapter, the funeral scene, made me weap. This was an exceptional book, I highly recommend that, if this book is on your bucket list, stop delaying and read it. It's a little hard at the beginning to read, as it was written in the language that was spoken over a hundred years ago, but you adapt quickly and once you start you can't stop.

Dr Strangelove vibes. Love this song. To me it's the frustrating release of constantly being bombarded with the threat of [enter troubles] and giving up and "learning to love the bomb". Clearly this was made during covid... so the "bomb" was that, and accepting whatever happens happens at some point during that time. The guy in the video is clearly going stir crazy and falling into a deeper darker hole. The lyrics also remind me of the looming threat of AI, albeit, probably not the intent of the song writers, but still relatable almost 5 yrs later (reminded because of the hopelessness - like this is coming, not a damn thing we can do, may as well accept the fate). Fantastic song... the part right before the snare bit sounds like a looming bomber cruising high above a city before the snare hits sounding like carpet bombs going off/hitting the ground or a singular nuke being heard from multiple perspectives... then it luls you back into the soft and familiar final chorus about accepting this fate and dying (going into light's graveyard). Fantastic. Very depressing but satisfying in a uniquely upbeat way.

When Col McKenzie tells Schofield to eff off, he’s not being rude to him; he’s being informal, and so acknowledging his efforts more as an equal than as an officer to a subordinate. Casual insults are how friends speak to each other in Britain - at least in a lot of traditionally male environments.

Came out on Homogenic album but is a different version, in the Greatest Hits it's the MTV version. The Japanese Koto-like harp in some sections just makes my hair stand, it blends gracefully with the electronic instruments and the MTV. Reminds me of the anime Ghost In The Shell.

This remix I think is better than the original - or rather, it has a different vibe. This has serious cyberpunk elements in it. It has that coldness, detachment etc. The original is definitely worth listening to though - but they are almost like different songs. this film clip did come out later (1999) - but believe me, this was still cutting edge at the time. I remember downloading the clip for hours over dial up. ;)

This is actually the original version. The one on the album is a remix by Howie B. Bjork put the remix on the album at the last minute because she felt it worked better as an album closer after the frantic-ness of "Pluto".
