this is quite literallt my favorite piece of all time. this performance is by far the most amazing thing ive heard, good job. you really conveyed the emotions for the song and it made me imagine what each scenes were ! the dynamics were so godly too. im literally in love with this arrangement 😭😭😭
9:11 I played this in band in high school, the arranger REALLY had fun on this ending because that's in C flat, SEVEN FLATS! I don't know what other instruments have but us in the horns really got a shock when we saw that.
I just played this in my last concert of 10th grade. That C flat was extremely fun because it takes a lot pitches we don’t usually play and makes a melody out of it
it is much easier to have an oversized band play lighter, thus enabling a much cleaner and yet very full sound. a professional band could pull this off with 1/3 the instruments.
Beautiful wind band, high-level instrumental (first solo flute 1:26 and euphoniums / tubas 8:59 bravissimo!). For interpretation, it lacks depth, dramatic intensity (it's not a children's tale, but a rather bloody episode). In the "wieder erstes Zeitmaß" at 5:49, the leader takes us to another Strauss (perhaps voluntarily?), That said, I had a lot of satisfaction listening to this exceptional ensemble.
Where is the musical whatever at 11:36? It's with the absent string section, without which these young musicians are doing perfectly well. I think they deserve a string section, though. They're doing as well as any wind ensemble I've ever heard with a piece not written for wind ensemble. Their articulations, intonation, and balance are better than could be expected for their age.
