The Redondo Hilton is where to stay. Rooms will have a musty smell and paid parking. Great & quiet location. Something to try also is, the Shore Hotel in Santa Monica. They lost a lawsuit and have to offer affordable rooms. $222 no resort fee with half off parking.
The houses are old and small and a part of Torrance has gangs and violence I lived in Torrance 30 years for the price you can move in a huge house with a lot of green like Montana where 8 moved
I grew up in Torrance. Went to South High School in the 80’s. Spent summers at the beach. It was a great time. Shocked at how much more crowded it is now. Buildings everywhere. Kinda sad. My parent’s home cost 12,000 dollars in 1955. It’s now worth 1.4 million.
Ya I can see that being sad. I grew up in Northern California and when I go back to the town I grew up in there’s not much open space because it’s all been developed. California doesn’t have enough affordable housing
The lowest priced home sale in west Torrance in the last 6 months was 955k, but there are other areas nearby where that might be possible. If you email me what you’re looking for I can help. Cheyneinman@yahoo.com
FYI - With sky high real estate costs and very compressed capitalization rates, very very few properties will cash flow positive in the Beach Cities or West of the 405 Fwy.
You must be a newbie. I’ve lived in the area for 65 years and there is subtle changes in the seasons the newbies from the east don’t notice. Termites spiders and insects are all over Los Angeles! there’s untreated redwood in Los Angeles they’re not exclusive to the beach area the same goes for spiders not exclusive to although there tend to more the farther you go inland. I grew up the area had lots of lizards, skunks, foxes but there was no squirrels (they migrated south on the utility pole wires escaping wildfires in hills and mountains surrounding L.A.) I was young. We had lots of horse stables, Greek flower growers, Japanese strawberry farms, a turkey ranch and three Dairies in West Torrance. It was heavenly before the Newbie invasion from the East.
That’s interesting I did not know that the west Torrance area had horse stables. Yes I have only lived in the South Bay the last 9 years, I grew up in Northern California. I actually had never heard of the South Bay in Northern California. When I thought of Southern California growing up I only heard of downtown, Santa Monica, Orange County, Long Beach and the valley.
@@livingintorrance There were Horse Stables along Anza and Del Amo (a two-lane dirt road ) starting at Anza with a rut in the middle lined on both sides with Eucalyptus tree hanging bows brushing the top of your car on the way past horse stables up to the dairy cow coral then up to the drive-through building where through a window you could see men in white smock’s and hats bottling milk. You’d return your empty bottles in a wire rack that rattled driving up the bumpy road and turn them in at the window and get back a rack with full bottles.
@@livingintorrance There were fenced off oil pumpers on nearly every street in West Torrance (“Southwood Estates”) we boys would climb the fences of and climb up the pumpers and ride like “bucking broncos”!
Omg that is so hard to believe looking at how it is now. I was surprised when I saw photos of the old drive in theater that used to be in west Torrance where the housing development is near Torrance Blvd and Henrietta street toward prospect. It would be great if that were still here
I worked at Honda Finance in the early 90's, only I was actually in the City of Los Angeles, Harbor Gateway neighborhood, which happens to have a Torrance California address. Yes there are parts of City of Los Angeles, that is according to the Post office is the City of Gardena, City of Carson the City of Torrance , and the City of Beverly Hills. Gardena High school is actually in the City of Los Angeles Harbor Gateway neighborhood, and if you move 50ft you are in the City of Gardena.
You forgot to mention the mosquitos. Just a couple of years ago they were so bad and they didn’t look like your typical mosquito…it must have been a cross breed of fly and mosquito. So gross.
Oh wow that’s crazy, I usually get bit up a lot when there are mosquitoes around and I was actually thinking the other day about how I haven’t had many mosquito bites since moving to SoCal
Yes the refinery is definitely something to be aware of. I am in West Torrance and I am about 2 miles from the refinery, so there are a lot of places to live in Torrance not close to the refinery
It looks like a beautiful well kept community with a lot to offer but since it is in Los Angeles County, it is too damned expensive. Beach towns are wonderful places to visit and spend some time in but I couldn’t live in them. I have to have diversity in seasons, architecture and cityscapes, plant life, and people. Hermosa Beach looks like just another wealthy lily white beach town where everything costs an arm and a leg.
Love West Torrance! I lived there in the early 1970’s and even went to school there as well , it has a great beach feel to it! The police department is good and they try to keep as much bad element out as possible , having Carson, Lomita and Lawndale close by doesn’t make their job any easier though, however the fire department is nothing to write home about. They are known for making many mistakes( terrible Paramedics by Standards) The shops around are pretty cool and nobody and I mean nobody can out do Torrance for there Memorial Day celebration! Great Parade and civic events. I often still visit the area and have many fawn memories of growing up there. They have many nice parks ! I would say anyone interested in moving into the Torrance area will be very pleased!
Hermosa looks like such a nice place! I like running from this park near the Redondo pier then running all the way to Hermosa. It’s fun to run past all of the houses and beach.
Expensive right cheyene? Traffic too much rush rush coyotes look for food you have some so not too much homeless in torrance is there? Southern calif no seasons the same 80 and sunny that's how San Francisco is once sun goes down temp drop better have a jacket or warm something
Looks nice any coffee shops around there not Starbuck too much $$ still a gracious host of the most love beaches and the 4 mile trail don't bike or jog but walking isn't fun but I should do more of it
It’s funny you say that because that was actually something I was thinking about putting in the video. The South Bay has all types of coffee shops, of course Starbucks on every corner but there are also lots of little beach coffee shops as well.
No townhouses in torrance don't matter too expensive for me 3 floor and garage and my lab 1st time homebuyer bad credit though would they still assist me? Cheyene? But I really enjoy your videos of those beautiful beach scenes
It doesn’t hurt to try. I have a lender I work with who has a first time home buyer program. If you want to send me an email they can see if you would qualify for it. Cheyneinman@yahoo.com
You mean all that bad weather it will be nice if I ever win the lottery I like your videos very nice not affordable for me but you are most gracious individual too bad I'm not tiger woods in his 80mph genesis watch dem curves no not hers
I live in Manhattan beach. Every beach town on the coast has its own vibe. Manhattan is perfect for families. Hermosa is for partying , el segundo is nothing, and farther up towards marina and venice it starts to become touristy and trashy
Lol! Glad to know people noticed. I’ve been helping a lot of people move here this month and I’ve gotten behind on the videos, but I need to stay on it because people are watching and reaching out. Thanks for watching!
I live in manhattan beach and it is so truly amazing even when the water is cold as ice. I take surfing lessons, and I like it! There are also very fun events like that parade with tons of games and stuff, also there was a winter festival and the clouds look so amazing when I look on my balcony, Sure, I took some maybe 2 million to buy this house but the luxury,oh and also don't forget to visit the pier, it has fun stuff.
