The Challenge In the fall of 2017, a lone sailor will depart San Francisco for a first-ever circumnavigation of both the American and Antarctic continents in one season. The route will pass through all of the world’s oceans, approach both poles, and round Cape Horn twice. No one has done this before-no one has even tried.
The Figure 8 Voyage combines two historic routes, a circuit of the Southern Ocean and a transit of the Northwest Passage.
Two Treacherous Routes This voyage combines two historic and dangerous routes, one in the deep Southern Ocean and one through the Arctic. Ferdinand Magellan, the first ever to circle the globe, departed in 1519 with six ships and 270 men. His voyage via Cape Horn took 16 months to complete. Only one ship returned..

Thanks for doing this video! My go to coffee maker is an aero press, but that's an extreme sport on a moving boat, and a non starter for Tiff to do blind. We'll give this a shot.
At least one is don't let the boat slow down. Keep it running at normal ish max speed. If you can't steer it, you're _fucked_ in very heavy weather. (Only know this from Jerome Rand meeting with Randall the other day btw, not done it myself.... Sigh)
Aloha from beautiful Hawaii islands ⛵️ 🏝 I read it about you in Cruising world magazine. Interesting was article crossing a Cape Horn and beyond. Many thanks ,beautiful episode filming
Fantastic voyage you completed . Epic. Really enjoyed your videos. I am seriously thinking about going around the southern ocean during a summer. It would be great to talk with about your voyage in the southern ocean. The chart that you have. Can you please share the name or where to get because I've looked online and couldn't find anything. Thanks.
Hi Randall, Great video as always! What is the source for your off-sets for your SSB antenna (those white things over your shoulder)? I have looked for small pvc without success.
Hey J. Scott, those came with the boat. Very simple, actually. They are small hose (water hose?) plumbing Ts, plastic, with a small piece of hose over the three ends; then those are zip-tied to the wire rope. Send me a note at the F8Voyage email and I'll send you a photo.
An epic start. Only finding this channel now after reading about your accomplishments in solo sailing elsewhere, have three years of catching up to do via YT and your book is ordered.
Just found this channel today, like catching the last episode of a complete TV series, but with the magic of RU-vid I get to watch all the episodes at once lol congrats on your completion a year late lol
"Uncharitable" decisions 💔 That's an extremely polite way of putting it 😇 I hate [most] people 😡 That's a really f*cked up thing they did 🐎 Maybe they should've lassoed some dolphins 2 pull them 🐬 Thank you for not bringing any horses with you!!! 🙏
